In the past few weeks, there has been almost exclusively talk about the farewell to Europe and the end of OxygenOS, but – despite the blow to Western users – OnePlus will continue to live. Pete Lau’s company will focus on the Indian and Chinese markets, so there will still be news to talk about.
In the brand’s future there’s also OnePlus 16, and now an insider teases the release window, but it seems there won’t be major changes to the design.
OnePlus 16: cosa sappiamo del prossimo top di gamma

Based on what has emerged over the months, the next OnePlus 16 will offer a slew of improvements on the hardware front. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is a given, and among other additions, there are also several goodies. On the display front we should have a unit with a refresh rate of 185 Hz or 240 Hz, while the bezels would come in at under 1 mm thickness.
In line with the current trend, under the hood there would be a silicon-carbon battery of a whopping 9,000 mAh – with fast charging around 100W and support for wireless charging.
The improvements would also extend to the camera system, with the introduction of a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens.
Design e uscita
According to the insider Digital Chat Station, an early debut in September would be ruled out. The month will be full of launches, perhaps even too many, and the next OnePlus 16 should mirror the timing of the current flagship. Consequently, the release is expected for the month of October.
The leaker’s other addition concerns the design: despite changes under the hood, the Chinese company shouldn’t introduce any new aesthetic updates. The flagship should feature a look similar to the current one, with a square camera module.
Il nuovo posizionamento
Meanwhile, Indian insider Yogesh Brar looks at the new positioning of the OnePlus 16 with skepticism. According to him, the flagship would be aimed at gamers and in China it would compete with iQOO for the gaming phone segment geared toward eSports.
However the leaker does not seem very enthusiastic about the device, at least with regard to the Indian market: both the OnePlus 16 and the iQOO 16 are considered failures, probably in relation to current price trends (the memory crisis has generated sharp increases in manufacturers’ costs and higher list prices for end users).
