The clash between the main flagship models of the new generation will begin in September, in tandem with the debut of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Dimensity 9600. If last year each brand managed to carve out its own space by limiting direct clashes to the essentials, this time things could go differently.
September is shaping up to be a month particularly packed with challenges, but the most intense showdown could be played out at home, with the showdown direct (in China) between the Xiaomi 18 series and Redmi K100.
Among Xiaomi 18’s rivals there will also be Redmi K100: the flagship showdown is played at home

The current Xiaomi 17 and Redmi K90 were introduced, respectively, at the end of September and the end of October 2025. This time window allowed the flagships not to step on each other’s toes, following a clear logic: the priority lies with Xiaomi, which for several generations has led the way with Qualcomm’s flagship SoCs.
Yet 2026 could be the year of an internal challenge between the two brands of Lei Jun’s company, with the Xiaomi arm facing the parent company head-on. According to Digital Chat Station, the Redmi K100 family is expected to launch in the third quarter: as tradition, the flagship model will be driven by the new Snapdragon high-end.
The launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is expected for September, so it’s clear that Redmi models will release in the same month, directly clashing with Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.
What we know about the Redmi K100 series and why it matters to us

We are waiting to learn more about the release date of the new devices, and in the meantime, there is no shortage of rumors about the models in the K series. The bond between Redmi and POCO has always been extremely tight: the upcoming Redmi K100 and K100 Pro Max should also arrive in Italy, but as POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra – a strategy already adopted by Xiaomi brands.
Regarding the latest developments in future smartphones, the K100 should offer a larger screen (from 6.59″ to 6.6″), a substantial 8,500 mAh battery and – for the first time – support for wireless charging. At the heart of it all is the current Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The beast equipped with the upcoming top Snapdragon will instead be the K100 Pro Max: the flagship is expected to feature a renewed camera system, driven by a main sensor of 200 MP.
September will be a busy month
The month of September could be very busy, according to rumors: Xiaomi’s event is a given, while Redmi’s is still a rumor. However there would also be other Chinese manufacturers ready to launch their respective flagship models in the same period.
The upcoming OPPO Find X10 series and vivo X500 are expected for October, and yet, according to previous rumors, at least one of the two brands could opt for an early debut in September. Clearly these are still only rumors, so we continue to await official updates.
