When talking about the new Samsung-branded smartphones, the enthusiasm of enthusiasts is always sky-high, as is the curiosity to discover the upcoming novelties. A fertile ground for leakers, who start to move well ahead of the official release of the devices.
This time we look at Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra, quite far in the future (it will be discussed in January or February for the debut) but already the subject of various rumors. The latest news focuses on the camera system, or more precisely on a sensor that could be missing from the lineup.
Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra: New camera details emerge and perhaps there will be one sensor fewer

The rumors come from the usual Ice Universe, an insider we know well, reliable and particularly close to the South Korean manufacturer. According to the leaker’s words, Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will be the first model in the series to do without the 3x telephoto lens: according to what has been revealed, the company has no intention of replacing it with a more powerful or different-type sensor; it will simply be removed.
This means that the future Ultra would rely on three cameras instead of the usual Quad Camera. Probably it will be the new 200 MP main sensor to handle shots with 3x zoom, while for high-quality images the telephoto periscopic lens will come into play.
Looking back over the years, the Galaxy S21 Ultra was the first smartphone in the series to introduce an additional sensor, namely the telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Since then, this element has been kept with every new flagship, but it seems the time has come to move on. After all, it is now clear that having many cameras is not necessarily synonymous with quality.
