The second quarter of 2026 confirms the slowdown in global smartphone production already observed in the previous months, but with a decline less pronounced than initially expected. According to TrendForce data, global production paused at 275 million units, down 8% year over year. In this scenario, Xiaomi remains the world’s fourth-largest producer with a 10% share.
Xiaomi smartphone market share: the manufacturers’ ranking in Q2 2026

According to TrendForce, behind the 8% drop are mainly memory price pressures. Fearing further increases, many consumers would have accelerated the purchase of a new smartphone, supporting demand in the short term. At the same time, some manufacturers that in the previous months had cut production too aggressively to protect margins would now be recovering part of the volumes initially cut, a double effect that helps explain why the final drop was less pronounced than initially feared.
Samsung remains firmly in first place with 62 million units produced, up 7% year over year, followed by Apple with 52 million units and an even more marked increase, equal to 14%.
For OPPO, Xiaomi and vivo, the third, fourth and fifth largest producers in the world with 30, 29 and 21 million units respectively, TrendForce did not disclose a year-over-year percentage change, highlighting a sharp contraction. According to the analysis, the three Chinese brands would have focused mainly on maintaining their market share and stable profitability, rather than chasing aggressive volume growth.
