Xiaomi launches Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6C: the purifier that tackles formaldehyde and allergens

Xiaomi has launched in China the new Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6C, an air purifier with a CADR for particulates of 603 m3/h and a six-stage filtration system that places special emphasis on removing formaldehyde, one of the indoor pollutants most difficult to eliminate.

Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6C delivers a clean air volume of 9,500 liters per minute and a recommended coverage up to 68 m2, occupying a floor footprint the size of an A4 sheet.

On the formaldehyde front, the dedicated CADR is 381 m3/h, with a removal rate of 99% within two hours. The declared filtration performance also covers pollen (98%), dust mites (98%), cat fur (99%) and dog fur (98%), PM2.5 particulates (99.99%), and over 99.9% of eight common bacteria and viruses, with a peak of 99.99% for the H1N1 virus.

The heart of the device is a six-stage composite filtration system: a pre-filter for coarse debris, an antibacterial layer, a high-density filter dedicated to removing formaldehyde, a nanometer-level particle filter, a specialized carbon layer for odors and volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), and finally a ultraviolet sterilization layer. The filter is rated to last 6–12 months.

A circular LCD display shows real-time formaldehyde levels with an accuracy of 0.1 per mille, as well as PM2.5, temperature and humidity. The device is controlled via the app, thanks to Xiaomi Surge Smart Connect technology, and is compatible with XiaoAi voice commands (the brand’s native assistant).

The system tracks the real-time remaining filter life, and some components are washable. In night mode, noise drops to 30.4 dB(A).

What changes compared to the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 already on sale in Italy

Compared with the official specifications of the new 6C and those of the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 currently available on the Xiaomi Italy site, the leap forward mainly concerns filtration performance and the number of stages in the system:

The 6C model thus adds an extra filtration stage (with a dedicated UV sterilization level and a carbon layer specialized for odors and TVOCs), a higher CADR for both particulates and formaldehyde, and a higher recommended room coverage.

The 6 model sold in Italy, on the other hand, includes support for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, while the 6C version currently is tied to the XiaoAi voice assistant, typically reserved for the Chinese market.

Price and availability in China

In China, the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6C is available for preorder on Youpin at the price of 1,099 yuan, about €142 at the current exchange rate. At the moment, no global market availability date has been announced, and it remains to be seen whether the new 6C model will accompany or replace, even in Italy, the current Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6.
