The new Xiaomi washing machine launches with three drums and an AI assistant that recognizes fabrics

The main drum reaches 11 kg capacity, while the two smaller side drums handle 1.5 kg each, for a total capacity of 14 kg.

Alongside the pure washing machine, Xiaomi also offers a washer-dryer variant with the same three-drum architecture, but with overall capacity reduced to 9 kg during drying (7 kg on the main drum, 1 kg on each of the two side drums).

The strength of this structure is the possibility to wash different loads simultaneously without having to mix them: the two side drums, with a diameter of 230 mm, are designed for more delicate garments or smaller loads.

Completing the package is a cold sterilization feature, which would provide antibacterial protection for up to 10 days after washing, useful for those who do not empty the drum immediately after the cycle.

On the software front, the washing machine integrates the Mijia Lingyun system, which combines Xiaomi’s proprietary algorithms with the language model MiMo. In practice, the user can describe in words the type of fabric, the color of the garment or the type of stain to treat, letting the system set the most suitable washing cycle.

In terms of aesthetics and footprint, the design remains compact and in line with the 10 kg Mijia Ultra-Slim model, designed to fit standard installations without requiring extra space.

Price and availability in China

The pure washing machine model is offered at 3,999 yuan, equivalent to about 514€ at the current exchange rate, while the washer-dryer variant rises to 4,999 yuan, equal to about 642€. Both models are currently available only on pre-order in the Chinese market. It remains to be seen whether these novelties will make their way here in the future: Xiaomi has opened the doors to large appliances in Italy, so fingers crossed!

Finally, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Xiaomi has experimented with multi-drum washing machines: a few days ago the brand also unveiled a mini 5 kg dual-drum washer-dryer, designed for those with smaller laundry needs than this new three-drum model.
