Some owners of Galaxy Z Fold 8 have reported a behavior that has raised concerns: gently pressing the corners of the inner foldable screen, the panel seems ‘sinks’ slightly, as if it were not perfectly anchored to the chassis.
The concern, understandable for a high-end device just launched and that is convincing many former iPhone users, is that you might be facing a manufacturing defect.

To clarify, an official statement from Samsung has arrived, issued by a company representative addressed to South Korean users. According to the tech giant, what users observed is not at all a malfunction, but the result of a precise design choice.
Samsung explains that the external corners of the foldable screen feature an intentional gap, introduced to reduce interference between internal components in the event of impact or pressure. It is precisely this margin of movement that produces the sensation of give when pressing on the panel’s corners.
The company adds that the damping structure applied to these areas helps improve the overall durability of the screen and protect it from potential impacts, without any impact on the device’s performance. Samsung thus defines the reported behavior as “a normal design feature”, not the sign of a factory defect.
