MediaTek has officially revealed that the new generation of flagship chipsets will arrive in two distinct variants, standard and Pro, with the presentation scheduled for September 15. The manufacturer has not yet commented on the technical specifications of the two SoCs: let’s take stock while waiting to learn all the news from the rivals of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
MediaTek Dimensity 9600: official launch date, specifications still to be confirmed

The latest rumors come from the leaker Abhishek Yadav and focus mainly on the Pro variant, while information about the standard model remains more limited.
According to the insider, the Dimensity 9600 Pro would be manufactured with the 2 nm process by TSMC, a step forward from the 3 nm of the previous generation. The CPU would adopt an octa-core configuration spread across three tiers: two Prime Cores at 4.55 GHz, three Performance Cores at 4.35 GHz and three Efficiency Cores at 3.10 GHz. Complementing the processor would be a Mali-G2 Ultra NX MC12 GPU.
Dimensity 9600 standard
For the Dimensity 9600 standard, rumors for now are limited to the 3 nm manufacturing process, less advanced than that of the Pro and presumably intended to reduce costs and make the chip more affordable.
The strategy of two distinct variants, one more high-end and one more oriented to the value-for-money ratio, closely resembles the approach that Qualcomm will adopt with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, also offered in two declinations.
Regarding the rest of the specifications, including the NPU, modem, supported RAM and display compatibility, details have not yet leaked, as well as information on the manufacturers that will be among the first to mount the new chipsets on their smartphones.
Anyway, we can assume which will be the first smartphones with the latest MediaTek news, namely the OPPO Find X10 series and vivo X500 (as usual).
