The Chinese company has just announced a new gadget aimed at Global markets: it is the Xiaomi TV Stick HD Gen 2, a refreshed version of its dongle – in this case with a resolution lower than the model we are used to. Here’s everything you need to know about this entry-level novelty that turns any TV into a smart device with Google TV.
Xiaomi TV Stick HD Gen 2 official: all you need to know about features, price and release

Last year Lei Jun’s company refreshed its dongle with the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K with the 2nd generation, first in Global markets and later also available in Italy. It remains to be seen whether the latest addition will follow this pattern. In the meantime, Xiaomi TV Stick HD 2 Gen has been added to the global official site, with all the details.
The aspect that grabs you at a glance is the design: as with the 4K version, the HD model also arrives with a refreshed look. The sharp and angular shapes give way to soft lines, without sacrificing the classic black color (elegant and minimalist, in Xiaomi’s perfect style). The dimensions are 107.4 x 30 x 14 mm, weighing 44 grams.
For the rest, it’s a classic dongle: it connects directly to a TV or monitor via HDMI and runs on Wi-Fi. The device is based on Google TV, so it allows quick access to a slew of well-known apps (Netflix, Disney+, YouTube and so on).

The support for Google Assistant lets you use voice commands, and Google Cast is available to share your phone or tablet screen.
Compared to the higher-end model, the base starts from 720p up to a maximum of 1080p at 60 Hz, with HDR10+ and support for Dolby Audio and DTX:X. Hardware-wise we have a quad-core Cortex-A55 with a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, 1 GB of DDR4 RAM and 8 GB of storage.
On the connectivity side, there are both Dual-Band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0; furthermore the dongle is accompanied by an infrared remote with shortcut keys for Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube.
At the moment the price of the Xiaomi TV Stick HD 2 Gen has not yet been confirmed: probably we will have to wait for the launch in individual markets to learn more. It remains to be seen if and when it will arrive in Italy, and if so we will update the article with the details.
