The new mid-range flagship from the Chinese house returns to the spotlight, once again thanks to a certification. This time it’s not about a reference to a model number or the commercial name, but a hint about the presence of a feature that has so far been exclusive to the Pro model. The Xiaomi 17T will be the first in the range to have (finally) the support for charging wireless!
Xiaomi 17T spotted with wireless charging: good news for the base model of the series
Revealing it is an IMDA certification, regarding the various technologies of communication on board the device. The phone appears with the code 2602DPT53G, which we know well: the model number has already appeared before and is linked to Xiaomi 17T standard.
In addition to confirming the presence of 5G connectivity, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC, the certification also lists the term Induction Loop Communication System/WPT/WPC: this indicates wireless charging, a welcome addition for the base model.
The previous Xiaomi 15T debuted internationally with wired charging support at 67W while wireless charging is reserved for the bigger brother. It seems things will change with Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro even if we do not yet know the power of wireless charging; for wired charging, previous certifications mention 67W and 100W.
Awaiting to know more, note that this year the T-series should debut much earlier than usual: not in September (as usual), but in May. As for prices, memory shortages will be the basis for alleged price hikes: Xiaomi managed to offset the increases with the flagship of the 17 series, but the 17T lineup may not be as fortunate.
