Samsung is considering a Galaxy Z Flip with a dual external display

This year we will witness the debut of Samsung’s eighth-generation foldable, and for the first time there will be an addition. No, we’re not talking about another model like Z Flip FE, but about a book-style foldable named Galaxy Wide and equipped with an atypical format for the series.

Although the company is quite reluctant to major aesthetic changes, behind the scenes work continues on this front as well. This is evidenced by yet another patent leaked online, which presents an alternative version of the usual Samsung Galaxy Z Flip – this time equipped with two external displays.

The smartphone features the typical clamshell style of Samsung’s flip phones but with a design partly redesigned. The front hosts a wide portion with a display, a space dedicated to the dual camera with the LED flash, and a second external display, in a round format.

The device is shown from various angles and clearly looks like a model belonging to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip family, albeit with this particular addition. On the surface one might wonder the reason for such a choice, but in reality it could make sense.

The circular screen could function for one or more widgets: for example displaying the date and time and then moving to other widgets with a swipe, all with the addition of Always-On. The main display, the larger one, would be used for tasks when the phone is closed.

Clearly this is speculation because the patent only illustrates the phone’s design, without providing details on specifications and features. What do you think of this look for one of the future Samsung Galaxy Z Flip models? Do you like the idea of a dual screen, or do you prefer the current solution, with a large panel?
