The latest Honor camera phone arrived in January, bringing with it numerous new features and improvements. We have prepared for you a comparison between Honor Magic 8 Pro vs Magic 7 Pro to discover more closely what the differences are between the two and how things have changed in the transition to the latest generation. In our deep dive we discuss design, specifications, cameras and price. Both models are available to purchase in Italy at a discounted price, while for their respective standard variants they remain a Chinese exclusive (nothing new on this front).
What are the differences between Honor Magic 8 Pro vs Magic 7 Pro: two generations of flagship in a comparison
Design in comparison
The design of Honor Magic 7 Pro is characterized by a panel with micro-curvature on all four sides: the edges are not curved but there is a flat screen (to avoid visual distortions) protected by glass with the four edges delicately curved.
The top of the panel features a pill-shaped cutout to house both the selfie camera and a sensor for three-dimensional face detection (for 3D facial unlock). The back is occupied by a refined, circular camera module with three sensors inside; the fourth sensor serves both to create a symmetrical look and to house the Color Temperature Sensor, Flicker Sensor and Laser Focus Sensor package.
The aesthetics of Honor Magic 8 Pro mirror those of its predecessor: the display shows micro-curved edges but with thinner bezels; on the back we again find the circular module, and once again the brand has implemented 3D face recognition. The position of the LED flash has changed — lower, inside the module — but there are no major style novelties.
Specifications and price comparison
The technical side does not need lengthy introductions: these are flagships equipped with the latest Qualcomm chipset of the respective generation, namely Snapdragon 8 Elite and 8 Elite Gen 5.
Among the novelties of the Honor Magic 8 Pro we find a higher level of water resistance, a brighter display albeit smaller in size, a slightly more compact form factor than its predecessor and a large 7,200 mAh battery. Unfortunately this unit is Chinese-exclusive, while in Italy the top model arrived with a 6,270 mAh battery; in this deep dive we explain why.
The camera system is not reinvented but refined: the variable aperture is gone, while the 200 MP telephoto and the 50 MP ultra-wide remain. The imaging engine is now called AIMage Nox Engine thanks to improved photo enhancement via artificial intelligence, especially for night shots (and particularly for telephoto shots).
The new flagship is the first with MagicOS 10: Honor’s interface has been renewed with many AI-related features, and we expect important steps forward in integration with Google Gemini (speaking of the future Global version). However the aesthetics have embraced the charm of iOS 26 and the Liquid Grass design, so we have translucent icons and effects in Cupertino style.

Our deep-dives into Honor’s flagship phones

- Honor Magic 7 Pro – Our REVIEW – the former flagship model is still relevant in many aspects.
Conclusions and where to buy
Honor Magic 8 Pro is the natural continuation of the series: the chipset and battery are improved, the camera is refined further. Everything is in place but without epoch-making changes or revolutions; the new imaging engine from Honor surely delivers satisfying photographic results.
The new flagship was launched in Italy at 1,299€ but at the time of writing it is on promotion at 999.9€ for a limited time. If you want to move to a model from the line, Honor Magic 7 Pro remains an incredibly valid choice: it is currently discounted to 849.9€ on the official store (in Black).
The choice is yours since both are excellent camera phones. However, right now the needle perhaps points toward the latest Honor Magic 8 Pro, given the discounted price and the difference of only 150€ compared to the previous generation!
