iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 now available: all the new features of the update

After the beta phase from the past few weeks, Apple has begun releasing iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4: the update is currently rolling out to all affected devices. Unfortunately, the new Siri is missing from the lineup: the assistant will be completely renewed with iOS 27 (the WWDC dates have been revealed recently) while in upcoming software releases Apple should begin introducing some intelligent features.

  • Apple Music
    • Playlist Playground (beta) generates a playlist from your description, complete with title, description, and tracklist
    • Concerts helps you discover shows near artists in your library and recommends new artists based on what you listen to
    • Offline music recognition in Control Center identifies songs without an Internet connection and automatically provides results when you go back online
    • The Ambient Music widget for Sleep, Relax, Productivity and Wellness brings selected playlists to the Home screen
    • Full-screen wallpapers give album and playlist pages a more immersive look
  • Accessibility
    • The ‘Reduce Bright Effects’ setting reduces bright flashes when you touch elements like buttons
    • The subtitles and captions settings are available from the dedicated icon when viewing multimedia content, making them easier to find, customize, and preview.
    • The ‘Reduce Motion’ setting more reliably reduces Liquid Glass animations for users sensitive to motion on the screen.
  • This update also includes the following improvements:
    • 8 new emojis, including an orca, a trombone, a landslide, a dancer and a distorted face, are available on the emoji keyboard
    • Freeform gains advanced tools for creating and editing images and a library of premium content, joining Apple Creator Studio
    • Flag reminders as urgent from the Quick Actions bar or by long-pressing, and filter urgent reminders in your Smart Lists
    • Purchase sharing allows adult members in Family Sharing groups to use their own payment method when making purchases, without having to rely on the family organizer
    • Keyboard precision improved during rapid typing
    • Widget support for CarPlay
