In the coming weeks, the mega Xiaomi event at the start of the year will take place, with many novelties both on the smartphone side and for the rest of the ecosystem. Among the products coming to Europe and Italy there will also be Xiaomi Watch 5, the brand’s latest flagship wearable.
Thanks to a substantial leak, we are getting many details about the features of the Global version, along with the first clues about the price.
Xiaomi Watch 5 Global will have it all, including ECG: here’s how much it will cost in Europe

In reality, it’s not a new smartwatch: Xiaomi Watch 5 was unveiled in China last December, so we already know everything. However, the rumors are important because they reveal that the device should arrive with all features intact, so no cuts.
The only difference would concern the software: instead of having HyperOS 3 on board there would be Wear OS by Google, to align with the needs and tastes of the Western audience. In reality Xiaomi’s software has proven not to be bad (just take a look at the Watch S4 review) but the lack of support for third-party apps and Google services is noticeable.
It’s from the previous Watch 2 Pro that we miss a model with Wear OS, so the new arrival is certainly a pleasant addition.
What to expect from the Global version
The new Xiaomi Watch 5 measures 47 x 47 x 12.3 mm and weighs 56 grams and will arrive in Black and Juniper Green colors. On board we have a 1.54″ AMOLED display with up to 1,500 nits of brightness, a 930 mAh silicon-carbon battery, and a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset.
According to what has been revealed the Global version will retain the ECG feature along with a neat trick: the sensor can be used for device control, detecting the muscle signals (electromyography) of the hand to perform quick actions.
For the price there are rumors of 7,990 Czech korunas, equal to about €329 at the current exchange rate. Whatever the final price is, it’s clear we will see an increase compared to the previous Watch S4 and Watch 2 Pro (launched at €159.9 and €229.9).
When will the new Xiaomi Watch 5 be released?
The date of Xiaomi’s event has not yet been confirmed. According to an insider, the Chinese house plans a presentation for the 28 February, on the eve of Barcelona’s MWC.
Anyway, the company will be present at the tech fair from March 2 to 5, so it remains to see whether the launch will happen earlier as hinted by leaks or directly during the MWC. The most awaited novelties are Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra, but there will also be the tablets Xiaomi Pad 8 and 8 Pro along with many other products.
