Xiaomi Pad Mini 2: 165 Hz display and 9,000 mAh battery for the new compact

In Xiaomi’s future there are not only models from the Pad 8 series (in Global version), but also a new incarnation of its compact tablet. A Chinese insider has kicked off leaks dedicated to Redmi K Pad 2, a very interesting device that could reach international markets as the Xiaomi Pad Mini 2 — with flagship specs but in a smaller form factor.

First hints on Redmi K Pad 2: could arrive in Global version as Xiaomi Pad Mini 2

Last summer Xiaomi’s offshoot presented Redmi K80 Ultra and Redmi K Pad: the top of the line became the base of the series Xiaomi 15T, as happened with the previous generation and as should happen for the next one — there is already talk of Xiaomi 17T. The tablet has been converted into Xiaomi Pad Mini in Global markets, and now there is talk of a second chapter.

The insider Digital Chat Station has revealed a few details about a mysterious high-performance compact tablet. Almost certainly it is Redmi K Pad 2, coming soon to China: the device should offer an LCD display of 8.8″ diagonal with a 3K resolution and a refresh rate of 165 Hz — just like the current model.

The news would concern the SoC and the battery: there are no signs yet for the chipset, but attention is directed toward the future Dimensity 9500+ while on battery life the tablet would move to 9,000 mAh (from the current 7,500 mAh).

Furthermore the leaker talks about an audio “co-tuned“, a hint that could indicate a collaboration with an external brand. The thought immediately goes to BOSE, which has already handled the audio of the Redmi K90 and K90 Pro Max — our POCO F8 Pro and Ultra.

The Redmi K Pad 2 launch is expected in the first half of the year, alongside the top-of-the-line K90 Ultra. The device is expected in an international version as Xiaomi Pad Mini 2, given what happened with the current generation.

The first Xiaomi Pad Mini did not arrive in Italy to avoid stealing the spotlight from Redmi Pad 2 Pro, announced in the same period (last September). Will it be the same for the next compact tablet? Fingers crossed: having a flagship model in mini form factor is a requirement also for Italian Mi Fans.
