Are you waiting for the latest update for your Xiaomi smartphone but it’s not available yet? Then it’s likely you’ll have to wait a little longer: the pause period of Lei Jun’s company will soon begin, in conjunction with the most important holiday in the traditional Chinese calendar.
Updates suspended for HyperOS 3: Xiaomi is on vacation for Chinese New Year

Beginning on February 17, the so-called Spring Festival, known mainly as the Chinese New Year. Unlike our holiday, this is a variable-date event that changes from year to year; moreover the festive period lasts two weeks, so it will end on March 3.
As is traditional, during this period all updates will be suspended: in China no new versions will be released, beta channels will be paused and this will also have an international impact. In short, from February 17 to March 3 no updates are planned for Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices.
Additionally, it is likely that slowdowns have already begun, so even though there are several days until the Chinese New Year, the pause period may already have started.
The Spring Festival has enormous importance for Chinese culture, and consequently companies grant extended holidays to employees. Even though we’re talking about Xiaomi, the same applies to other brands like OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo and Realme.
However, this policy should primarily concern the software side, at least for Global markets. We note this for a reason: recently a date for the launch event of Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra (i.e., the 28 February) has surfaced. Rumors suggest a presentation before Barcelona’s MWC, where Xiaomi will still be present as usual; however for now it’s a rumor and there is no official confirmation.
