Xiaomi, in addition to having significantly increased the batteries of its smartphones, seems to have found the sweet spot with its latest product.
It is called Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank and has all the credentials to become the must-have item for anyone who detests heavy bags. However, there is a crucial detail that could dampen the enthusiasm of many Western enthusiasts.

Xiaomi has worked hard to shave the dimensions to the bone, achieving a thickness of just 6 millimeters. To put this figure in perspective, it is as thin as, if not thinner than, many modern smartphones. Accompanying this profile is a featherweight of only 98 grams.
This lightness is essential for a power bank magnetically: the goal is that the user can attach it to the back of the phone and continue to use it without feeling excessive weight on the wrist or unbalancing the device.
The body is made with an aluminum alloy shell, which gives a premium look and greater shock resistance, while the surface in contact with the smartphone is coated in flame-retardant fiberglass.

How is it possible to pack a respectable capacity into such a small body? The secret lies in battery technology. Xiaomi has adopted silicon-carbon cells, an advanced solution that enables a significantly higher energy density compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries.

The magnetic connection supports the wireless charging, delivering peak performance with devices in the proprietary ecosystem, such as the Xiaomi 17 series, with which it reaches 15 W. For Apple users, magnetic charging tops out at the 7.5 W.
However, those who need speed can take advantage of the integrated USB Type-C port: connecting the phone via cable, the output power rises to 22.5 W.
An interesting detail is the ability to charge two devices simultaneously, one wirelessly and one via cable, making it an extremely flexible tool for those traveling with multiple gadgets.
The power in such a compact body naturally raises questions about heat management. Xiaomi has addressed the issue by integrating a graphite sheet of 4.369 mmb2 paired with two NTC temperature sensors.
This system constantly monitors temperatures to prevent overheating that could damage the battery or the phone.
Additionally, there are ten levels of safety protection, covering risks such as overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuits, and detection of metallic foreign objects.
Discrete LED indicators and a power button let the user always keep an eye on the remaining charge.

Despite excellent technical features and a launch price decidedly competitive, set at 7,980 yen or 45 euros at the current exchange rate, this tech jewel seems destined to remain a mirage for many.
Currently, the Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank has been launched exclusively in the Japanese market, available via Amazon Japan and the local official store.
At the moment, the company has not issued official statements regarding global distribution or arrival on the European market.
