In Lei Jun’s company there will also be Xiaomi 17 Max: an insider reveals it, also announcing the possible release window. It would appear that the ultrathin format doesn’t perform well, while the maxi format remains strong 7 at least following the brand’s strategy.
What can we expect from this new addition to the lineup? Will it have something to offer (as the Pro and Pro Max do) or will it simply be a larger variant?
Xiaomi 17 Max will arrive in April, according to leaks: but what will its distinctive feature be?

Recently, a prototype of Xiaomi 17 Air, an ultra-thin smartphone in development and then canceled according to various rumors. While ultrathin smartphones falter, and we can talk about a real flop for the first wave, the success of the Xiaomi 17 lineup was driven precisely by the brand-new Pro Max.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the experience of mini and compact devices, it’s that what the public asks for and what they buy is quite different. So, despite the desire for smaller and more manageable phones, the reality is that the phablets are indeed popular.
Xiaomi has understood this well with the success of its Pro Max, and now it would also be time for Xiaomi 17 Max. The launch is expected around March/April, but only in China; the phone would not mount the rear display like its bigger siblings but would be an upgrade in terms of size.
So we should see the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a triple-camera setup with a periscope telephoto, this time with the addition of a display measuring 6,8″ or 6,9″ diagonale against the 6,3″ of the classic Xiaomi 17.
What will arrive in Italy?
Unfortunately both this unreleased model (and still rumored), as well as the two Pro models with rear displays will remain a Chinese exclusive. In the West, only Xiaomi 17 and the latest Xiaomi 17 Ultra are expected to arrive, a tradition that has continued for some time.
There is not yet confirmation but the most plausible stage for the European debut can only be the MWC 2026 in Barcelona, planned from 2 to 5 March.
