POCO M8 and M8 Pro are official, plenty of autonomy and a wonderful display at competitive prices

POCO renews its mid-range offering with the official launch of the new POCO M8 5G and POCO M8 Pro 5G, two smartphones that aim to make technical specifications typically reserved for higher market segments more accessible.

The brand continues to follow its philosophy “All power. All play.“, proposing smartphones that make concreteness their core principle.

Both models arrive on the market with the goal of offering a high-end visual experience and battery life capable of enduring even the most intense days, thanks to the integration of high-capacity batteries and advanced fast charging systems.

The absolute highlight of this new generation is undoubtedly the display. The POCO M8 Pro 5G raises the bar with a Flow AMOLED 6.83-inch panel with a CrystalRes 1.5K resolution, capable of delivering higher pixel density and crisper details than before.

Not to be outdone is the standard model, the POCO M8 5G, which features a Flow AMOLED 6.77-inch display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, guaranteeing smoothness in animations and content scrolling.

Both devices share an impressive feature for their price range: a peak brightness reaching 3200 nit. The attention to visual comfort is confirmed by the presence of the dimming PWM at high frequency (3840Hz), which reduces eye fatigue during prolonged use in dim environments.

Performance and autonomy

Under the hood, the two smartphones take different paths to satisfy different needs. The POCO M8 Pro 5G is powered by the mobile platform Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 built on a 4nm process, a chipset designed to offer decent performance even in gaming and multitasking.

To keep temperatures in check, there is the IceLoop cooling system, introduced for the first time on the M series to ensure stability during the most demanding usage sessions.

The younger brother, the POCO M8 5G, relies instead on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, also a 4nm octa-core processor that focuses on energy efficiency and the solidity of daily performance.

Cameras and design

The camera department sees a clear step forward with the adoption of next-generation sensors. The POCO M8 Pro 5G boasts a main camera of 50 MP with a Light Fusion 800 sensor and, crucial for night shots and video, optical image stabilization (OIS). The secondary camera is an 8 MP ultra-wide.

The standard model does not compromise on quality, proposing a dual-camera system with a main sensor of 50MP Light Fusion 400, capable of recording 4K video, accompanied by a 2 MP depth sensor.

On the front, we find another difference, with the POCO M8 Pro featuring a 32 MP sensor that drops to 20 MP on the base model.

From an aesthetic and build perspective, the two smartphones offer different sensations. The POCO M8 5G leans into slimness with a profile of just 7.35 mm and a 3D-curved design that makes it easier to grip.

The Pro model, instead, emphasizes durability: it is IP68 certified for water and dust protection and its display is protected by the sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, making it a reliable companion even in the harshest conditions.

Both devices arrive with Xiaomi HyperOS and advanced AI features, including support for Google Gemini and “Circle to Search”, completing a package that aims to democratize high-end technology.

Prices and launch promotions

POCO confirms its aggressive strategy, aiming for a specs-to-price ratio that is hard to beat.

POCO M8 5G with 8 GB + 256 GB is available at a suggested public price of €269.90, while the more capacious model (8 GB + 512 GB) is offered at €299.90.
