The iPhone 11 Pro, introduced to the market in 2019 as the first Apple smartphone to bear the suffix “Pro”, has been officially added to the company’s vintage products list.
Although the device has received the update to iOS 26 during the current year, the outlook appears less rosy, with the real possibility of being excluded from the next major OS update, iOS 27.
iPhone 11 Pro has entered the vintage products list

The current classification marks a crucial moment in the product lifecycle: Apple defines ‘vintage’ as those devices whose sale has been discontinued for more than five years, but less than seven.
This label is not only a formal matter, but represents the first step toward ultimate obsolescence, acting as a wake-up call for owners of this hardware who may need technical support.
What changes for support and repairs?
The policy of the tech giant allows iPhone, iPad, Mac and other ecosystem devices to obtain replacement parts and assistance for at least five years through Apple service providers.
Consequently, a vintage product like the iPhone 11 Pro remains technically repairable, but with a crucial caveat: the operation is subject to the availability of parts.
As long as the necessary components are available in stock, the device can be repaired as permitted by law or for a period extending up to seven years.
However, the repair warranty ceases to be absolute, turning into a possibility tied to existing stock, making each intervention potentially more complex as time passes.
Ultimate obsolescence is right around the corner
The ultimate fate of every vintage device is inevitably the list of obsolete products. This status is reached once seven years have passed since the discontinuation of distribution for sale.
The consequences, in this case, are drastic: Apple terminates any hardware service and service providers can no longer order replacement parts for such models.
There is, however, a specific exception that concerns MacBooks, which can benefit from an extended repair period exclusively for the battery up to ten years from the last distribution, although this allowance remains subject to component availability.
For iPhone 11 Pro owners, entering the vintage list means there are only two years left before the device becomes obsolete, at which point the chances of official repair will vanish entirely.
Other devices affected
Today’s Apple support list update does not affect only the iPhone 11 Pro. Other notable devices have been reclassified as vintage, outlining a broader generational turnover. Among them are the 2019 Apple Watch Series 5, the 2020 13-inch MacBook Air with Intel processor, and the iPad Air 3 in Cellular version.
Additionally, with the inclusion of the 2017 iPhone 8 Plus 128GB, the entire iPhone 8 series is now considered vintage.
For owners of one of these products, the message is clear: hardware has entered the final phase of its official support, a transition period that requires careful consideration on whether to keep the device or proceed with an upgrade.
