After the break in 2022, this is the debut year for Huawei P60, P60 Pro e P60 Art. It is not officially known why Huawei's top series was not renewed last year, but everything seems to point in the direction of the american ban, the consequences of which are limiting the production of the Chinese company. At the same time, Huawei has returned to the strategy of the three annual flagships (after only the P50 and P50 Pro), so let's see how they change.
Official Huawei P60, P60 Pro and P60 Art: all the news
Design and display
The Huawei P60 series is made up of different aesthetic lines from the P50, with a renewed photographic module that clearly highlights the multimedia sector; also in the upper left, it is formed by a circular section for the primary camera with smaller cameras above and below. In the case of the Art variant, the shapes are even more sinuous and resemble those of a pebble.
The P60 series is certified IP68 and is available in four anti-fingerprint colors: Emerald Green, Feather Sand Purple, Feather Sand Black and Rococo White; the latter recreates a mother-of-pearl effect on the rear, thanks also to the addition of mineral powder to the color adopted. On all three models, the screen quad curved it's a new panel LTPO da 6,67" 2K (2.700 x 1.220 pixels); has dynamic refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz with 29% improved power consumption, 1.920Hz PWM Dimming, and DCI-P3, HDR-P3 and HDR Vivid support. In addition to being equipped with Kunlun protective glass (Pro and Art), is the first Huawei X-True panel with double color accuracy certification from the TÜV Rheinland body.
Features and specifications
The limitations of the American ban mean that once again the Huawei P60 series lacks 5G connectivity, despite the use of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 by Qualcomm. Not the most modern chip but still a step up from the 888, i.e. a 4nm TSMC solution with Kryo octa-core CPU up to 3,2GHz and Adreno 730 GPU. 4.100 mAh (P60) e 4.880 mAh (Pro and Art) with SuperCharge fast charging increased from 66W to 88 (50% in 10 minutes) e wireless 50W (Pro and Art) also reverse at 7.5W. For the model Art comes to 5.100 mAh thanks to the use of new “silicon-carbon” materials as happened on Honor Magic 5 Pro.
The 5G modem is missing, but there is support for satellite communication 2nd Gen with two-way SMS, now able not only to receive but also to send messages; the rest of the specifications include dual SIM 4G, Bluetooth 5.1, USB-C 3.1, NFC, stereo speaker and HarmonyOS 3.1.
Camera
Clearly much of the attention that gravitates around the P60 series is related to the XMAGE photographic sector. While not adopting the most advanced 1 ″ sensors, the P60 series aims to offer the best performing night camera, and it does so with a RYYB sensor da 48 MP with OIS boasting variable opening at 10 steps with an excursion equal to f/ 1.4-4.0, the same as Mate 50 Pro; in addition, high-transmittance lenses and a new Huawei XD Fusion Pro AI texture engine have been used for optimal rendering in low light.
The other big news is represented by the 5X periscopic telephoto lens, which for the first time has a focal aperture ffinal match., the brightest ever seen on a zoom of its kind. It is a RYYB sensor from 12 MP (P60 and Pro)/48 MP (Art) optically stabilized which, through software interpolation, arrives at one zoom 100X on P60 e 200X on Pro and Art, never seen before on a smartphone. Finally, there is an ultra-wide angle (also with RYYB matrix) from 13 MP f/2.2 and from 40 MP on P60 Art, a selfie camera that is always 13 MP and there's also laser autofocus and a 10-channel multi-spectrum sensor for improved white balance and color fidelity.
