Design and display

After that outfold of Mate XS 2, Huawei Mate X3 back to offer a design infold, therefore there are two displays available, one external and one internal foldable more compact that in the past. In fact, the internal one has a dimension of 7,85" 2K (2.496 x 2.224 pixels), while the external one is from 6,45", for a total weight of only 239 grams and a thickness of 5,3 mm, making it the lightest and thinnest foldable yet. A result that was also possible thanks to the adoption of a new teardrop hinge and new materials for the screen and body.

While the inner panel comes to 120 Hz with PWM at 1.440 Hz and brightness up to 1.000 nits, for the external one quad curved technology is adopted LTPO to vary dynamically from 1 to 120 Hz; proprietary protection is adopted for the external part Kunlun Glass, all with certification IPX8, touch recognition even with wet screen and is the first foldable to receive double SGS certification.

Aesthetically speaking, Huawei Mate X3 moves the photographic sector from the top left to the center of the body, with a new circular module that is very reminiscent of that of Xiaomi 10T Lite and POCO X3NFC. Another important novelty concerns the adoption of a new hinge that allows the Flex Mode, thus being able to keep the smartphone folded at different angles, especially useful in the photographic phase by eliminating the need for a tripod.

Huawei Mate X3 is powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 but only in version 4G because of USA ban, and that means a 4nm TSMC SoC with Kryo octa-core CPU (1 x 3,2GHz X2 + 3 x 2,75GHz A710 + 4 x 2,0GHz A510) and Adreno 730 GPU. As per the series P60, the 5G modem is missing here too but there is satellite communication 2nd Gen which allows both to receive and to send messages via satellite.

For the battery, there is a unit from 4.800 mAh with SuperCharge fast charging from 66, recharge wireless 50W (and reverse 7.5W) and an Emergency mode which would guarantee 3 hours of use with only 1% of remaining charge. There is also a Collector's Edition variant which boasts a larger capacity 5.060 mAh thanks to the adoption of the “silicon-carbon” structure.

Finally, the XMAGE camera has a triple configuration from 50 + 13 + 12 MP f/1.8-2.2-3.4 with RYYB main sensor, ultra-wide angle, 5X periscopic telephoto lens with OIS and digital zoom 100X, laser autofocus and 10-channel multi-spectrum sensor for white balance.
