Let's start immediately from an assumption. When we previewed it at IFA 2022, the thing that seemed more than clear was the fact that the Huawei Watch EASY it was not a smartwatch like the others. And indeed, given its characteristics, it could probably be considered a real intelligent medical device rather than a smartwatch. Not for nothing, we are talking about the first wearable device which, thanks to a real inflating cushion, is able to really measure blood pressure with an accuracy almost equal to classic meters.
But the most beautiful thing is another, as soon as it is taken out of the package its thickness and its strap could be misleading and suggest that it is an uncomfortable product to wear and instead, strange but true, it is among the most comfortable wearables which I've been trying lately. Of course, it integrates a real pump which has the purpose of inflating the bearing with air and which increases the general thickness of the product, but it is really very comfortable on the wrist.

Unboxing
Already from the unboxing, we realize that Huawei Watch EASY it is not a simple smartwatch. In addition to the charger, in fact, inside the package there is a second strap which is accompanied by a paper meter with which it is important to measure the circumference of your wrist to choose which is the best strap size to use. It is a very important operation, so much so that on first configuration the software will ask which strap is fitted, which must be done very carefully because it will influence all the device's detections.
Design and materials
The design of the Huawei Watch EASY it is quite similar to what we saw in the Watch Fit, with a rectangular type dial and the screen develops vertically. However, what changes is the thickness and the weight: with a thickness of 13.6 millimeters and a weight of 40.9 grams it is certainly not a compact device, which means that if you wear it with tight-fitting clothing or under jackets that have a spring along the ends of the sleeves, it could be a bit annoying.
Unlike the Watch Fit then, in the Huawei Watch EASY two side physical keys have been integrated: the one at the top has the purpose of returning to the main screen, while the one at the bottom is dedicated to health-related functions. It can be programmed for the quick start of one of the many measurements available and integrates a sensor with which the ECG can be performed.
The strap is also thicker and wider than the "standard" ones we've seen in other smartwatches, this is because it integrates an air chamber that will inflate for pressure measurement. But nevertheless, as I have already anticipated, they are all characteristics that in daily use will not be causes of strong impediments because Huawei Watch EASY it is decidedly comfortable to wear, perhaps also thanks to the tactile sensation of the inner tube on the wrist, which is soft and warm when not in use. The only doubt is about use in the summer: given the materials of the sections that are in contact with the wrist, with higher temperatures I fear that the sensation of heat could be a bit annoying. But it is a doubt to which I will be able to have an answer only in a few months.
That said, the design of the Huawei Watch EASY all in all it is modern and minimalist, and is characterized by a metal crown and, above all, the IP68 certification for water and dust.
Display
The display of the Huawei Watch EASY uses a 1.64-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 456×280 pixels and a pixel density per inch of 326 ppi. As usual for the brand's devices, it is a panel of excellent quality which, thanks to deep blacks, a good peak brightness and a right saturation, has fully satisfied us. But from Huawei we do not expect these excellent results.
The good thing though, is that in addition to the always-on, Huawei Watch EASY integrates a brightness sensor that guarantees the possibility of automatically adjusting the backlighting of the screen, and it is a very comfortable thing especially considering that it is a device that should also be worn at night to analyze and process all vital parameters, including quality of sleep.
In short, it is an excellent display, the touch is very responsive and there is good poco to criticize the panel used by the brand if not the frames that might seem a little too thick. What really didn't drive me crazy is the quality (indeed, the style) of the graphical interface and the dials, but we'll talk about that shortly.
Hardware
As far as bare-bones hardware goes, there's not much to say. Huawei Watch EASY it connects to the smartwatch via Bluetooth and also integrates the GPS for tracking your outdoor workouts even if, to be honest, given its materials it is not a product that I would use for running, despite the quality of the sensors being of the highest level level. It also integrates NFC but, unfortunately, for now it cannot yet be used to make contactless payments. What it lacks, however, is support for WiFi networks as well as the microphone and speaker. Then no, Huawei Watch EASY it cannot be used to answer phone calls nor to interact with the HarmonyOS digital assistant, although the software actually supports it.
In addition to the heartbeat sensor, which is also able to detect blood oxygenation with rather painstaking precision, Huawei Watch EASY it is able to perform ECGs and integrates a sensor for detecting skin temperature: it works well, but I wouldn't rely on it to check for fever, because in general the values are a little lower than those expected they would measure with a traditional type thermometer.
Pressure measurement
Obviously, then, Huawei Watch EASY is able to measure the pressure thanks to a system that involves the use of a very small pump which has the purpose of inflating the bearing positioned in the internal area of the strap: the measurements are fast and incredibly precise. We have tried several times to carry out the measurements with a traditional type blood pressure gauge, and the results are substantially very similar, with a very minimal margin of error. In short, Huawei Watch EASY it was born for the measurement of pressure, and it does it damn well.
This is the function that makes the difference compared to all the other competitors on the market, and the great thing is that those of Huawei have managed to make the process extremely simple and fast. To carry out the measurement, however, it will be necessary to sit and move the arm to a particular position: the legs must be resting on the ground and the arm on which the device is worn must be crossed at the chest: once the measurement has started, you will feel the strap inflate and after about 30 seconds you will have the values.
In general, the precision of the measurements is quite good, of course it could happen that the Huawei Watch EASY detects slightly higher parameters than traditional electronic sphygmomanometers, but the percentage of rejects is really negligible. In short, yes: Huawei Watch EASY can be used to measure blood pressure daily (and repeatedly).
Software
And that the Huawei Watch EASY both more of a medical device than a real smartwatch can be seen from the software. It is animated by a proprietary operating system of the brand, in which in addition to a series of (questionable, from an aesthetic point of view) dials, you can do well poco. In essence, the smart part is certainly the most sacrificed because, for example, it is possible to view notifications but with a very essential interface. Needless to say, it is not possible to reply (unless you want to use quick replies) nor is it possible to install third-party apps, furthermore it does not display the notification emojis and, if multiple messages arrive, in the relevant section of the interface graphics will always display the older one.
In short, it is a GUI designed for health and a little less for "smart" operations or for sports activities, despite supporting over 70. It is possible to customize the tabs that can be reached with a swipe to the left, which however can be displayed in a limited number, making it necessary for the user to choose which health information to see and which not: there are the activity log, sleep analysis, stress analysis, breathing exercises , the weather, the stopwatch with relative alarms and timers, as well as those relating to blood pressure, SPo2 and body temperature.
Battery life
The battery life is good but not exceptional even if, and we must say this, given the many measurements in real time and 24/XNUMX that the Huawei Watch EASY, in the end the performances are not even bad. With all the functions active, the device can be used for about 4 days without ever recharging it.
However, it is clear that a large number of pressure measurements or a somewhat more stringent use of the GPS could lower the autonomy. All in all though, in principle the autonomy of the Huawei Watch EASY it is in line with the other products on the market, with the difference that it is the only one capable of constantly analyzing certain parameters with extreme precision.
Price and considerations
The official selling price of the Huawei Watch EASY it is 399 euros but, by purchasing it through the brand's official store, you will have a Huawei Scale 3 smart scale and a 3-month subscription to Health + as a gift, or you can receive a Huawei Scale 3 Pro by paying 50 euros instead of 100. In short, the point is this: if you consider the Huawei device as a simple smartwatch with which to track your activities, the price could seem quite high.
The point, however, is that the amount requested by the brand is justified by the presence of pressure measurement through a real miniaturized sphygomanometer, which makes it Huawei Watch EASY one of a kind. It is not a product for everyone, this is true, but for those like me who suffer from hypertension and need to measure blood pressure values several times a day, the new Huawei device could turn the day around: being able to check yourself without the need to wear a traditional blood pressure monitor, and have precise measurements in 30 seconds, is a very comfortable thing.
