There is a limit to washer-dryer vacuum cleaners: although by now the vast majority of brands produce devices with excellent performance, 99% of these products are limited to washing and drying the floor. In a nutshell, if it is simply necessary to vacuum the dust without using water, why not on a piece of furniture or between the cracks in the cushions of a sofa, it may be necessary to purchase an additional vacuum cleaner or, at least, a good vacuum cleaner.
And considering the average selling price of the scrubber vacuum cleaner market, having to buy an additional product could be poco pleasant. In short, it is a limitation, there is nothing to be done, but it is something that companies are aware of and are taking measures to remedy.
And the Dreame M12 it is just that: it is an excellent 2-in-1 scrubber dryer, equipped with rather large water tanks which, if necessary, can transform into a dry vacuum cleaner to which different types of nozzles can be connected.

Design and materials
Available in a two-tone matt gray color, with the front area characterized by a darker color, as well as all the brand's products, including the Dreame M12 follows clean and minimalist design lines. Although water technology generally requires rather bulky structures, in reality it is a rather compact product, but not very light: with its 5 kg of weight, when the containers are empty, already at the first approach with the Dreame M12 one realizes the solidity of the structure. But, don't worry, thanks to the grip of the motorized brush with the floor, despite being a washer-dryer that is not exactly very light, handling is guaranteed.
The capacity of the water containers is good: the one for clean water is 920 milliliters, while the one for dirty water is 700 milliliters, which means that we are almost double the capacity compared to its direct competitor, the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 Combo that we tried a few months ago.
What any other scrubber vacuum cleaner does not have, however, is the mechanism for disassembling the suction motor which, once detached from the main structure, can be connected to an additional dirt container and used as a portable handheld vacuum cleaner to which two extensions can be connected. typical of these products.
What is really missing, however, is an extension with a traditional motorized brush, which would allow it to be used as a normal vacuum cleaner. In short, the point is this: for the floor the Dreame M12 it must necessarily be used with the water configuration, for everything else it can be used in the handheld vacuum configuration.
A display has been inserted at the top with which it will still be possible to keep all the information relating to cleaning and the battery under control, including the automatic suction power, while the design of the motorized brush is decidedly good, which on the right side has a minimum thickness and allows good cleaning along the edges of the skirting boards.
Suction and washing
use the Dreame M12 it is very simple, whether you use it as a traditional washer-dryer or use it as a handheld vacuum cleaner. In the first configuration, just fill the container with clean water, which can also be enriched with the perfumed detergent included in the package, hold it and press the start button.
And you will have the same simplicity if you want to use it as a vacuum cleaner: just extract the motor, connect it to the accessories and press the start button. Also in this case there are two suction modes, the automatic one and the suction one, but in my opinion, it is always advisable to use it in the automatic mode, with which the device will manage the suction power completely autonomously (and the quantity of water used) based on the dirt detected on the floor thanks to the iLoop sensor.
However, the suction mode is not intended as "dry suction": it is a function that must be activated if liquids accidentally fall on the floor which, with the Dreame M12 it will be very easy to vacuum in a few seconds, without using the clean water in the tank.
The performance of the motorized brush is excellent, as is its improved ability to clean edges, which allows the device to vacuum without problems even near baseboards and furniture. In short, in terms of suction and washing of the floor the Dreame M12 it brings with it all the quality and power to which the brand has accustomed us over the years.
And the same quality is undoubtedly also found in the vacuum cleaner mode, a mode in which a cyclonic motor will be used integrated right into the part of the structure that can be disconnected from the main one. In this case, however, a note is necessary: although the device guarantees good suction power, in handheld vacuum mode it is a tad bit below the performance that would be achieved with a traditional cyclonic vacuum cleaner. The weight of the "portable" device is 1.9 kg, not very light, but still able to guarantee good handling during use.
But, in my opinion, it's the right compromise to pay for a product that really vacuums and washes floors, and that can also be used in other ways.
Even with the Dreame M12 then, once the floors have been cleaned and the device has been placed on the floor charging base, just press a single button to start the automatic cleaning system: in a few moments it will start to clean itself, and it will do so using the water to remove any dirt residue.
My advice is to use this mode at the end of each wash and, above all, to empty and wash the dirty water container well after cleaning in order to avoid the formation of bad smells.
Dreame M12 it integrates 6 4000 mAh batteries, which justifies the not exactly low weight, which guarantee the device to exceed 35 minutes of autonomy in automatic mode. Of course, this is a highly variable factor based on the amount of dirt on the floor, but in general the performances are decidedly good.
As it should be, however, given the large batteries, the recharging phase is quite long: for a recharge from 0 to 100 it could take from 4 to 5 hours, while in "portable" mode, the device is able to guarantee over 60 minutes of autonomy.
Price and considerations
The official selling price of the Dreame M12 it is 529,00 euros on Amazon but, through the box below, you could buy it at a discount for 459 euros using the coupon directly on the product page. Also, from 20 to 29 January Dreame M12 it will be in flash sale promotion: in this period to take it home you should spend 100 euros less than the official price, i.e. 429,00 euros.
And it's a product that we really liked, above all because it tends to solve the problem of water containers poco roomy that we've highlighted in the other 2-in-1 scrubbers we've tried lately. In fact, thanks to the increased capacity, with Dreame M12 you will no longer be bound to empty and refill the water, which also makes it perfect for cleaning rather large rooms.
In short, especially at the flash price, if you need to buy a washer-dryer capable of cleaning the floor well without having to worry too much about clean water and dirty water and which, if necessary, can be transformed into a powerful vacuum cleaner, the Dreame M12 is probably the ultimate solution to consider.
