Design and display

Another round, another run: for the umpteenth time, Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro they cut ties with the last generation, changing the cards on the table from an aesthetic point of view. Not so much in front, where we find the classic central punch-hole screen, as in the back, where the photographic module has been updated again. The camera module is more squared and offers a triptych of sensors flanked by a double LED flash.

Xiaomi 13 is the one that offers the most variety, presenting itself in an amount of colors never seen before for the Chinese company: Black, Light Green, Light Blue, Cement Gray, White, Flame Red, Hurricane Yellow, Jungle Green and Sapphire Blue. You may also notice a boxy look, with a flat side frame like the latest iPhones. The selection of colors (White, Black, Light Green and Light Blue) is more classic for the Pro model and its body in ceramic, and there is also an unreleased version in nano-skin designed to make the body repellent to dirt and fingerprints and to fade over time.

Another important novelty is the presence of the certification IP68, effectively making Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro resistant to dust and able to be immersed in water without suffering permanent damage. A feature that we had already seen on 12S Ultra and which for the first time is not relegated to the Ultra models alone but which we also find on the top of the cheaper range.

Xiaomi 13 has a screen OLED dish da 6,36 "Full HD + a 120 Hz with four very small frames from just 1.61 mm thick, in addition to the fingerprint sensor under the display, Dolby Vision support, HDR10 +, HLG and a maximum brightness of 1.900 nits. Moving on to the advanced model, Xiaomi 13 Pro mounts a panel curved da 6,7" 2K with technology LTPO able to adjust dynamically from 1 to 120 Hz. Technical specifications and features

The technical specifications of Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are obviously high-end, especially if you look at the chipset. The two top of the range are driven by Snapdragon 8 Gen2, Qualcomm's latest high-end SoC. It is a TSMC 4nm SoC which contains a revamped Kryo octa-core ARMv9 CPU (1 x 3,2 GHz Cortex-X3 + 4 x 2,8 GHz A715/710 + 3 x 2,0 GHz A510) and an Adreno 740 GPU, while on the memory side we find 8 / 12 GB 5 Mbps LPDDR8.533X RAM e 128 / 256 / 512 GB UFS 4.0 type at 3.5 GB/s not expandable.

Moving on to drums, there is one 4.500 mAh with quick charge from 67W on the basic model and from 4.820 mAh with recharge 120W on the Pro one; both have refills wireless to 50W (and inverse at 10W) and the proprietary chip Arises P2 to manage it all. This result was also possible thanks to the 3rd generation MCP Battery Packing and Silicon Anode Battery System technologies, thanks to which it was possible to increase the amperage of the batteries while maintaining such powerful wireless charging.

In addition, Xiaomi has implemented the enhanced version of the vibration motor CyberEngine, the same as Redmi K50 Gaming, and they are not lacking stereo speaker with Dolby Atmos support, 100% increased power compared to 12-series and head tracking. The connectivity department includes 5G dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, IR sensor, NFC and dual frequency GPS. Finally, the introduction of software side Android 13 takes place in the form of the brand new MIUI 14.

Camera

Thus we arrive at the photographic sector, a very important point when it comes to smartphones, especially top of the range as in this case. The first novelty concerns the partnership with Leica, introduced with the aforementioned 12S Ultra and which now also embraces the main flagships. The synergy involves both hardware and software, with the use of Leica lenses and the creation of a photographic app with calibrations and special filters to recreate the Leica chromatic style.

The technical data indicate a Xiaomi 13 with triple camera from 50 + 12 + 10 MP f/1.8-2.2-2.0, whose primary sensor Sony IMX800 is 1/1.49″ with 1,0 µm pixels, 7P lenses and the new optical stabilization applied to the sensor, called Hyper OIS; with it are a 120° ultra-wide angle and a telephoto 3.2x with OIS. As expected, we have the real trump card with Xiaomi 13 Pro and its 50 + 50 + 50 MP f/1.9-2.2-2.0, starting with the Sony sensor IMX989 by 1 " inherited from 12S Ultra. The primary is accompanied by two 1/1″ Samsung JN2.76 sensors, i.e. a 115° ultra-wide angle and a 3.2X telephoto lens with OIS and Leica Floating lens that can also act as a macro thanks to a focusing distance of 10 cm; frontally there is space for a selfie camera 32 MP. All supported by the proprietary chip Arises C2, dedicated to improve camera performance.
