Alongside the Dreame H11 Max (here the review) and the new one Dreame H12, the differences would be noticed immediately. And this is because by now the brand has understood what to go to work on and, above all, how to do it, with each new product it presents. Because ok, we are talking about a floor cleaning vacuum cleaner that uses water to (really) clean the surfaces on which it goes to work and which can also be self-cleaned at the end of each use, but now this type of device is no longer a news and many brands have presented their proposal for this very particular market.
But with the Dreame H12 the Chinese company has not introduced revolutionary innovations that often risk being poco useful to those who will actually use the device, but has resolved some of the problems encountered (and criticized) by users, aiming to produce a device capable of improving the user experience, comfort and efficiency of use.
Dreame H12 review: it is the reference point for the world of floor cleaning vacuum cleaners
Design and materials
From the point of view of raw design, there are not many new features in the Dreame H12. This model is also characterized by the typical shape of cyclonic vacuum cleaners but, given its nature, it moves away from it a lot due to a main body that is anything but slender and slender. It weighs about 4,70 kg and is much more bulky than a traditional vacuum cleaner and does not allow the replacement of the main motorized brush which, among other things, is larger than usual. The reason is clearly the technology that drives it: it integrates two water tanks (one from 900ml for clean water and the other from 500ml for dirty water) and the motorized brush is larger to allow the suction of liquids on the floor.
In a nutshell, for anyone unfamiliar with this type of water vacuum cleaner, the Dreame H12 it does not integrate a traditional container for dirt, but uses water: everything that the device will suck will be contained in the liquid in order to facilitate the emptying of the container and reduce to zero the risk of getting your hands dirty or inhaling dust.
Despite the weight, the handle is perfectly fine ergonomic and the roller of the motorized brush has such a grip as to greatly facilitate the cleaning movement which, practically, will drag it on the floor, eliminating any possible effort. In short, despite its massive appearance and its rather high weight, it is good to keep in mind that these are two decidedly deceptive elements: in reality the Dreame H12 it is a very simple device to use, even with one hand. It is true, however, that, given the size of the brush, it cannot be "slipped" under the lowest furniture or in the most confined spaces.
The big news lies in the front rotating brush with which, thanks to the way in which it is integrated into the suction and cleaning process, this model improves in the ability to remove any traces of dirt that may be in its passage also thanks to the system capable of automatically recognize the type of dirt encountered.
There is also another novelty: the particular structure of the cleaning body allows the skirting boards to be approached with extreme precision, thanks to one side of the brush that is practically flush with the structure and, thanks to the re-engineering of the body of the horizontal element in contact with the floor, the entire cleaning process has been rethought and optimized compared to previous generations. And yes, it works well.
The power button of the product has been positioned directly on the handle and a large LCD display has also been integrated with which you can check the cleaning mode currently active and the amount of dirt on the floor, the status of the battery and its recharge, and a whole series of information with which the vacuum cleaner will communicate with the user in case of need for cleaning, obstruction of the circuits or the need to search for the water tank.
Suction and washing
As for engine and suction power, in the Dreame H12 we find the same features that we appreciated in the H11 Max. This model is able to guarantee a maximum suction power of 10000 Pa thanks to a 200w brushless motor and integrates different operating modes (dirt suction and washing) in addition to that automatic with which, thanks to a series of sensors, the Dreame H12 will be able to analyze the amount of dirt that is sucked up, in order to independently set the best suction power.
The second mode, on the other hand, is intended exclusively for vacuuming liquids: if water, milk or any other product in liquid form falls on the floor, by activating this mode it can be vacuumed without any problem, leaving the surface dry. And ok, if the vacuum cleaner gives its best at maximum suction power, my advice is to always use it in automatic mode: in this way you will have sufficient suction and a better battery life.
But regardless of the cleaning mode used (I, for safety, I always use the maximum one), in these days of testing with the Dreame H12 I found myself very well, and the idea of washing and vacuuming at the same time is brilliant: unlike robot vacuum cleaners and floor cleaners that perform a polishing (and not washing) action, with the Dreame H12 all stains will go away, although it may take several passes in areas with more complex dirt, before completely removing the residue. And it also works very well with hair and pet hair: this is probably the scenario in which you realize the advantages of using a water system because, once cleaning is finished, just empty the water tank and give it a rinse.
Either way, once you've finished cleaning the floor, it's time for one of the most convenient functions of the Dreame H12: self-cleaning. Using it is very simple: at the end of a cleaning (or if the indicator lights up), just place the vacuum cleaner on the charging base, empty the dirty water container and fill the clean water container and press the dedicated button.
In a few moments the Dreame H12 it will begin to self-clean itself, and will do so using just the water, in order to eliminate any residual dirt not only from the suction circuit, but also from the motorized brush. And this is one of the most comfortable features of this type of product.
The battery that drives the Dreame H12 it is a 4000 mAh able to guarantee a good autonomy. Without spending too many words, with a single charge you can use the device for poco more than 30 minutes in automatic mode, which makes it sufficiently powerful for the complete washing of a medium-sized apartment, but the battery is certainly not the most limiting factor of this type of device.
Because, despite the presence of larger than average containers, for surfaces larger than about 60 square meters, it will be necessary to refill (and empty) the water container in order to continue cleaning the floor: and this is the only price you have to pay when you decide to use such products.
Charging is also average: to go from 0% to 100% it will take about 5 hours.
Price and considerations
The official selling price of the Dreame H12 is 519,00 euros on Amazon but, through the box below, you could buy it at a discount thanks to a coupon of 120 euros. Which would bring the price of the floor cleaner vacuum cleaner down to 399,00 euros and, believe me, you will not find anything better at these figures: spending this amount for a product capable of vacuuming, washing (for real) and self-cleaning could be the turning point. Also, anyone who has pre-ordered on the official website la Dreame H12 will be entitled to an additional discount.
It is powerful, it is comfortable to use, it really washes the floor, it can understand the amount of dirt it has to clean and then it self-cleans itself: in short, the Dreame H12 it really has so many positive aspects. It is a pity, however, that, despite the effort made by the company in integrating larger water containers, the only real limitation of this type of product continues to be present: every now and then, you will have to stop to empty the dirty water container. and refill the clean water one.
