Maybe someone will remember that with the old MIUI 12 update of Xiaomi were introduced Automated Tasks. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, their purpose is the same as Samsung's Bixby Routines: to create operations that the smartphone performs automatically. In this way, the user can perform various operations simply with a click, without necessarily having to intervene manually. However, some of you may never have used them, since on some smartphones and some ROMs they are not officially enabled: that's why I decided to tell you how to bypass this block.
Here's how to access the “hidden” Automated Tasks within Xiaomi's MIUI
I first encountered this problem: I have a Redmi Note 10 Pro with official MIUI 13 EEA and a POCO F3 with Xiaomi.eu, that is a custom ROM which is a port of MIUI 13 China. On the first they are absent, while on the second there are the Automated Tasks. First of all, I invite you to check if the ROM of your Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO whether or not it has one. To do this, open theSecurity app and scroll down: if there are, you can find them in the "Battery"Under the heading"Plan".
In this case, you can jump directly to the chapter "How to use Automated Tasks”To find out how to make the most of them. If not, you can try installing thelatest version available Xiaomi's Security app. Even if they are not present, then let's move on to the method that worked for me.
How to unlock Automated Tasks
Download the app from the Google Play Store Activity Launcher, useful for accessing system features, even those normally hidden. Open it and, once inside, click on the search icon at the top and type "autotask". Among the various items in the list that will appear, the one that interests us is called "com.miui.powercenter.autotask.AutoTaskManageActivity".
Click on the 3 dots to its right and select "Create shortcut“: In this way, you will have a dedicated icon on the home page to click on to enter the Automated Tasks without having to use the Activity Launcher each time.
Alternatively, once inside the main screen you can click on the gear icon at the top right, enable the item "Home screen shortcut”To bring up a shortcut.
How to use Automated Tasks
Once the Xiaomi MIUI Automated Tasks have been discovered, let's see why they are so comfortable. As the name implies, their purpose is to automate certain operations that would otherwise require several clicks to be carried out. Inside the "Task centerThere is a list that contains several automated tasks.
For example, the task "Sleep"Provides that from 22:00 to 08:00 (the time can be customized) Do Not Disturb mode and Dark mode are activated, Wi-Fi and data network are switched off, screen brightness is reduced to 40% and activated Energy Saving. Or the task "Save battery“, Which provides that when a pre-determined battery percentage is reached, Energy Saving is automatically activated.
At this point, you are free to choose any of these automations, click on "Add to My tasks"And activate it; all the automations that you have activated you will find them in the "My tasks". But the beauty is that each of these automations is completely customizable; also, you can click on the + button and create one from 0.
The operation is that of Then–> If: when the initial condition is met, then the smartphone automatically activates the related tasks. For example, you can activate them by time slot, if you activate elements such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or GPS, if you connect the headphones, if you open / close a certain app, if the battery drops to a percentage, if you activate the charging, if the display freezes or if a call is incoming.⭐️ Discover the new Weekly Flyer of GizChina with always different exclusive offers and coupons.
