Redmi Note 11 vs Honor 50 Lite comparison: what is the best early 2022 range base?

comparison redmi note 11 vs honor 50 lite

Taking a look at the smartphone sector we can say that the medium-low range devices have now taken a good share of the market. And not necessarily due to the demerit of the top of the range, which are increasingly top, but because of the quality-price ratio that has been gradually improving. A few years ago, in fact, it would have been impossible to talk about a good phone for around 200 euros, just like Honor 50 Lite e Redmi Note 11. Now, however, all of this is reality.

It is difficult to give a precise location to these two models, which do not belong to the medium range but not even to the lower one, so to speak the entry-level. They are a kind of middle ground that wants to satisfy all those looking for a decent smartphone to use every day, without particular needs. And this is precisely what these two models, which ultimately share, want to do poco on a technical level.

On the one hand we find a Snapdragon 680 4G, perhaps one of the most balanced Qualcomm processors of recent times, on Honor 50 Lite instead we have a Snapdragon 662 which in some respects shows its side. Reason why, perhaps, those of Xiaomi were able to implement only 4GB of RAM, against the 6GB brought to the Honor device that we remind you for some time has returned to be officially a product by Google.

Let's analyze them together, step by step, to discover any strengths and weaknesses of these two models, but not before having specified which versions we have tested. On the one hand, therefore, we find Redmi Note 11 in the Global version which therefore, compared to the Chinese version, allows us to take advantage of some more bandwidth. Honor 50 lite, on the other hand, as mentioned, is now equipped with all Google services and mounts the Magic UI 4.2, a software version that we have now come to know over time. So let's see in detail which are the main ones differences between these two models regarding different aspects, not only hardware, but also concerning the cameras, the design and the battery.

Design & Materials

Honor 50 Lite and Redmi Note 11 show two completely different philosophies. On an aesthetic level, therefore, Honor opts for a classic design, with more rounded shapes, fielding some aspects now common in the world of smartphones. Where one stands out a little more, however, is on Note 11 which ultimately follows the trend of the latest Apple devices, showing a decidedly squared metal frame. However, if you are looking for a more valuable product, this would be the right time to throw in the towel: the metal frame and back cover in plastic are common features in both phones. On the one hand, however, Redmi has decided to offer a satin finish that is pleasant to the touch and that makes it easier to grip, while Honor has remained anchored to a glass-like surface that in daily use really retains many fingerprints.

Going to talk about dimensions, the Redmi branded device measures 159,87 x 73,87 x 8,09 mm, against i 161,8 x 74,7 x 8,5 mm by Honor 50 Lite. Although, then, the Note 11 battery is much larger than that of its counterpart, this one weighs much less: they are 179 grams against the 192 grams of the little one of the house Honor. It is not a huge difference but holding them in your hand feels a lot and this is undoubtedly reflected also in everyday use. Let's say, therefore, that the handling of Note 11 is not to be underestimated and is clearly superior to that of Honor 50 Lite, also thanks to its more squared shapes.

Honor 50 Lite it was made almost flawlessly, showing no slight imperfection from a constructive point of view. As on other models, even less current, it mounts its own four cameras on the back within a medium-sized circumference placed in the center. Even if this surface protrudes by half a millimeter with respect to the profile of the body, this characteristic does not affect its handling. With its protective cover, in fact, this step almost disappears. Let's see, then, how the brand has decided to insert the on / off button (which integrates the biometric sensor) and the volume rocker on the right frame. Taking a look at the bottom, however, starting from the left we find it SIM slot, main microphone, the entrance USB Type-C and system speaker. There is also no shortage of entrance mini jack on the top, as well as the second stereo speaker and the microphone for the suppression of ambient noise.

Let's say that Redmi Note 11 it does not differ much from its rival, while presenting some interesting details. We therefore always have an on / off button, which integrates a biometric sensor for the footprints, and volume rocker on the right. Below, however, there is space for the main microphone, the USB Type-C input and the system speaker. The trolley for the SIM slot has been positioned on the left frame, while at the top we have the mini jack hole for the headphones, the second stereo speaker, the IR sensor and a second microphone.

From the photographic point of view, the arrangement of the rear sensors changes a lot, this time they have been inserted inside a parallelepiped placed on the left. There are, therefore, four main sensors and a single one LED flash. Again this component really protrudes poco with respect to the device profile.

Unlocking Systems

At this point, by now, the release systems used by the main mobile devices are almost always the same. In addition to facial recognition, more or less intelligent, we find the classic biometric sensor. Therefore, these two smartphones offer exactly these two functions.

With Redmi Note 11 we can enjoy a sensor positioned at a height more than appropriate with medium-large hands. It is not at all difficult to reach it, even when using the device with one hand. The same goes for Honor 50 Lite which offers exactly the same solution, in a position comparable to that of its rival. I must admit, therefore, that I found this solution very convenient on both phones, recording a very similar unlocking speed. Sometimes it is a little faster Redmi, other times the device developed by Honor. Let's say that from this point of view the differences are hardly noticeable.

Of course we also have the facial recognition in 2D which, however, as always I do not recommend. In addition to being poco reliable and accurate, it turns out poco sure.

Are there any differences on the display side? Yes, there are actually differences between these two smartphones. On the one hand, therefore, Redmi Note 11 proposes a screen AMOLED from 6,43 " and with resolution Full HD + (1080 x 2400 pixels) with a refresh rate of 90Hz and touch sampling rate up to 180Hz. Honor 50 Liteinstead, it proposes a more modest solution, therefore a display TFT LCD in Full HD + (2376 x 1080 pixels) and refresh rate equal to 60Hz. From these characteristics, therefore, an aspect immediately emerges: the Redmi device is more fluid and faster than its counterpart, thanks to a higher refresh rate. I assure you, in fact, that from 60Hz to 90Hz the difference of note to the naked eye, especially in the scrolling of the pages.

These brands offer two absolutely different displays on these models, especially as regards the performance of the colore. There is no better product than the other but it is also true that Redmi has focused more on shine while Honor has remained on warm and slightly dull colors. The one that really varies poco is the maximum brightness, given that in direct sunlight both can be seen well, although you can still distinguish many fingerprints on the front panel. Despite this, the quality is good, although in this case the viewing angles of the Note 11 satisfied me more.

comparison redmi note 11 vs honor 50 lite

It changes the visualization of the multimedia content on these devices, but only because of the different quality of the panel. Beyond this aspect, we see how Honor 50 Lite is characterized by the presence of a double front camera, positioned on the left, which does not disturb too much in daily use. Redmi Note 11, on the other hand, opts for a single module placed longitudinally which is now increasingly common in the smartphone field. However, I have to break a lance in favor of the device designed by Redmi which, unlike its rival, shows almost no light bleeding effect around the selfie camera hole.

I would have liked more work to try to eliminate the difference between the lower chin and the upper frame. Honor, however, is certainly the company that has tried most forcefully to remedy this aspect, proposing much more harmonious forms in this sense. Let's say, however, that in this price range this feature is always taken poco into account.

Despite everything, from a technical point of view at a photographic level these two smartphones do not differ much. Redmi Note 11, therefore, it mounts a main sensor from 50MP with f / 1.8 aperture, assisted by the presence of three other smaller sensors including an 8MP wide-angle lens with 118 ° FOV. With Honor 50 Liteinstead, we can leverage a main target from 64MP (f / 1.9), which is also supported in total by three other sensors. And also in this case there is space for an 8MP wide-angle sensor, this time with a FOV of 120 °.

Going to take a closer look at the shots, we notice, first of all, how Honor has opted for a much colder and more realistic color tone than the one chosen by Redmi. Note 11, in fact, reveals warmer colors and a slightly lower image definition, which reveals too much photographic noise. This, at least, is what comes out if you look more closely at a shot of day, focusing on a darker point. During the day, therefore, I was much happier with the shots taken by Honor 50 Lite which, in my opinion, are more realistic and balanced.

Di notte the situation changes drastically and the roles are reversed, with Redmi taking over the situation and starting to pull out shots of a much higher quality than those of Honor 50 Lite. Both with the automatic shooting mode and with the Night Mode, where the Xiaomi software is able to better manage the lights by calibrating the various elements in a more harmonious way. I must admit, however, that Honor also defends itself well with this smartphone when it goes to use this mode, bringing out the best of itself. I also recommend using, especially at night, only the main lens: with all the other sensors you easily risk taking some shots that are not good enough. Also there wide-angle lens, which is so useful during the day, during the night it loses several points making its use almost useless in this context.

Redmi Note 11 tends to overexpose less than Honor 50 Lite, being able to take advantage of theHDR automatic. This is a sort of “rule” that applies as much with the rear main camera as it does with the selfie camera from 13MP. Let's say, therefore, that the management of this sensor is better and all the shots taken with the front camera have certified this aspect. It must be said, then, that despite having tried in every way to activate it, the portrait mode of Honor 50 Lite does not work, at least on my unit. Beyond this small problem, however, we are talking about a decent level photographic sector, for both phones, always considering the price range at which they are offered.

Here you can only turn in 1080p a 30fps and that's just enough to piss off a lot of users out there. From this point of view, in fact, the two Chinese brands could have done something better, guaranteeing at least a 60fps recording with the main sensor. By recording some test videos, therefore, you immediately notice some big problem: the stabilization is insufficient and the image quality below average. But as far as I'm concerned, that's right, since surely these won't be the favorite smartphones of content creators.

Hardware & Performance

Going to dig even deeper into the soul of these smartphones, it is only right to dedicate a separate chapter to the hardware. In fact, there are not a few differences in this respect, starting only from the type of processor chosen for these two models. So let's see how Redmi have opted for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G, therefore an octa-core unit with configuration 4 x 2,4GHz Kryo 265 Gold + 4 x 1,9GHz Kryo 265 Silver, 4GB RAM e 128GB of internal memory (expandable). On the other hand, however, Honor 50 Lite shows a SoC Snapdragon 662, therefore a unit composed of 4 x 2,0GHz Kryo 260 Gold + 4 x 1,8GHz Kryo 260 Silver, 6GB RAM e 128GB of internal storage (not expandable).

You will have guessed for yourself, reading part of the technical data sheet, that these two models travel on different tracks. From all points of view, therefore, Note 11 is the model that turns out to be more responsive and faster in daily operations, even those usually more complicated. Managing several apps at the same time becomes, therefore, an elementary task, as much as surfing on social networks or on any web browser. Obviously Honor 50 Lite does not reach certain peaks, not even side Gaming, although the GPU Adreno 610 bring both platforms together. We are very sorry, therefore, that on the latter model we notice a frame-rate that is not always impeccable and a graphic quality slightly lower than that proposed by Redmi. Furthermore, during the game phases, the speed of action is greater on the latter device, being able to enjoy a full experience in almost every aspect.

We want to analyze some numbers? From the tests it is clear how the devices are equivalent, with the slight advantage of Note 11 which in several points has detached the rival of the house Honor. Despite only 4GB of RAM, in fact, this smartphone shows a definitely better optimization, even when you find yourself with different apps open in the background. Evaluate the situation well for you, however, even in the face of one of its characteristics: the older apps do not stay in memory for that long, forcing us to continually reload them. But taking a look at Geekbench 5 let's see how Redmi Note 11 has scored 387 points in single core, against the 307 of Honor 50 Lite. There are, therefore, no major differences in this regard. Where the gap grows is on the multi-core test which records 1.258 points on Honor 50 Lite and 1.729 points on Redmi Note 11.

comparison redmi note 11 vs honor 50 lite

With Mark 3D I was able to test the GPU in an even more massive way and also in this case it won Note 11. The graphics are not identical but the final result of this smartphone is much better than the other.

Attention also to AnTuTu which, thanks to its tests, revealed a difference of nearly 20.000 points from one product to another. Let's see, therefore, how on the Redmi-branded device this value is equal to 236.410 points, while on Honor it stands at 213.415 points. During the classic 15-minute stress test the temperatures remained quite low in both models, a sign that the heat dissipation works fairly well.

Beyond all the various technical aspects in everyday use, Note 11 has an extra gear, there is poco to do. I think that the software also played an important role here, which we will talk about in poco, which turns out to be better optimized on the product by Xiaomi. I would have sincerely expected something more from Honor which has always tried to offer good smartphones at more than competitive prices.

To date, I believe that one of the best Android customizations is the MIUI 13, the one we find on many Xiaomi and Redmi devices including Note 11. In addition to having a fresh and simple interface, it allows you to customize the device according to your personal tastes. We could say, in one sentence, that it truly embodies the spirit of Android. Different, however, is the philosophy of Honor that mounts the Magic UI 4.2, based on Android 11, which exactly like the counterpart already contains everything you need to be able to use your smartphone right away.

comparison redmi note 11 vs honor 50 lite

There are some clarifications to be made. Although both systems are valid and well functioning, therefore with few bugs, they follow sometimes very different paths. From a certain point of view, however, I am convinced that Xiaomi has done a better job on optimization because, beyond the different hardware, it is a more responsive device on almost every aspect.

Here we are not in the presence of 5G smartphones, so we have to deal with a slightly lower connection speed. Honestly, however, I have not noticed any particular problems compared to the usual, managing to surf the net easily even outside. With Redmi Note 11, therefore, I was able to take advantage of the 802.11 Wi-Fi a / b / g / n / ac with good results, even in the less covered areas of the house. And the same goes for Honor 50 Lite, which manages to guarantee a connection that is always stable and precise.

In addition to all the various components we have already talked about, there is no shortage of the Bluetooth 5.0, an entrance USB Type-C 2.0, L 'NFC for contactless payments and the various GPS modules to navigate in the city, and beyond, without any restrictions. These components work well on both smartphones, although the Honor 50 Lite showed some more uncertainty when receiving the GPS signal.

Audio & Calls

Anyone who owns a lower-end device will probably not be surprised by the presence of an entrance Jack 3,5mm for headphones. On these two models, therefore, it is possible to exploit this component to listen to any multimedia content, with a decent quality. I must say, in fact, that in this respect the two devices do not compete with each other, offering more or less the same performance package. Despite this, I still have to specify a detail: the only device, between the two, that is able to reproduce stereo sound is Redmi Note 11. On the top and bottom, in fact, it mounts two speakers that offer a rather basic stereo effect but still valid in this price range.

Attention to proximity sensor of Note 11 which sometimes could actually betray you. In fact, on a couple of occasions it happened to me to find a malfunction of the same and it was not too pleasant: with my cheek, during a phone call, I inadvertently typed anything. Beyond this aspect, however, both phones offer good audio quality even in slightly noisier situations such as bars or buses. On the other side of the handset, Honor 50 Lite sometimes reproduced our voice in a slightly metallic way, only to fall back into the ranks.

Price & Conclusions

Redmi Note 11 it is currently being sold on goboo starting from 179 €, while Honor 50 Lite it costs about 269 € su The Amazon. At the moment, therefore, there is a big difference between these two models, so you need to think carefully about your choice. In any case, you will find the purchase links below.

NB If you do not see the box with the code or the link to the purchase, we advise you to disable the AdBlock.

According to what has been seen poco ago it is currently difficult to choose Honor 50 Lite between the two smartphones. Beyond the performances in the photographic field, and on the battery side, Note 11 has something more. Not only from an aesthetic point of view, but more for the performance offered in everyday use. I must also say, however, that these are two perfect entry-level phones for those who want to be part of this world without breaking the bank. It is therefore difficult to wish for anything better at these prices. Even if net of everything I would prefer to buy Redmi Note 11 which, in my opinion, has an edge.
