How many months has it been since our Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G? Not many, considering that on our site this is dated April 15, 2021. Some, therefore, may think that the company has been pervaded by an irrepressible desire to renew this device, immediately launching its successor. And here, then, that this appears on the Italian scene Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G, a sort of reinterpretation of that model in a modern way. To tell the truth, however, the brand has not changed that device much, proposing once again the same design and almost the same type of technical characteristics. There has been a slight variation but, after all, it is not certain that by changing the order of the addends the result (at least in this case) will change. Do you want to find out? Then stay tuned to this one Full review to get an even more complete picture on this smartphone. And what may have prompted Xiaomi to produce this device a few months away from its predecessor.
Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE review
You have probably already seen the latest sales packages of the Chinese brand, which for this latest series has decided to opt for white. No more images, therefore, of the device on the front. These have been replaced, in fact, by the device number and model name, reported poco lower. Beyond this, therefore, the following accessories are located inside the box:
- Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE;
- USB / USB Type-C cable for data transfer and product charging;
- wall power supply, with European socket;
- pin for removing the SIM slot;
- soft transparent TPU cover;
- brief instruction manual;
- 3,5mm Type-C headphone adapter;
- warranty certificate.
Design & Materials
It will seem strange to you but, in terms of weight, this device is exactly halfway between Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G and the 5G version: the new Xiaomi home smartphone weighs 158 grams. As in that case, therefore, once again the company has hit the mark, offering a light and manageable phone. For some time, in fact, I have not had the chance to handle a smartphone that is so pleasant to hold, almost dangerous at some point. Sometimes, in fact, it almost seems to hold a toy in your hands, an almost device of poco value. Although this is not the case at all. Xiaomi has opted for the introduction, once again, of a matte rear body, which certainly stands out a lot in the available colors. In addition to Bubblegum Blue, in fact, the product is also sold in the Truffle Black, Peach Pink and Snowflake White colors.
Taking a look at it we see how the back is practically indistinguishable from the previous version. Here too, therefore, we have a bump chamber equipped with one triple room and, of course, of the individual LED flash. Beyond this, then, on the right frame reside the volume rocker and the on / off button which also integrates a sensor for fingerprints. Looking at the lower part, however, we find it in order SIM slot, the main microphone, the input USB Type-C and system speaker. Then, a further one completes this endowment microphone and infrared sensor, positioned at the top.
I still have some doubts but I am now almost convinced that the back was made of plastic. Doubts more than legitimate given the excellent assembly of the device he leaves poco space for absolute certainties. Beyond this, in any case, its great manageability is combined with dimensions that are not exactly compact, measuring 160,53 x 75,72 x 6,81 mm thick. So much thin and light, always considering the usual 158 grams, which perhaps also represent the greatest strength of this model. It must still be used with two hands but the pleasure of being able to hold a device like this poco it is often almost priceless.
I always want to include this paragraph even if lately the innovation in this field has stopped a bit. Here too, therefore, the two classic release systems also find space on almost all the other competing devices: the fingerprint sensor and face recognition.
Almost eclipsed on the last one, given that in terms of safety and reliability we are at an insufficient level. Much better, however, the biometric sensor that responds well in every situation and also quite fast. Xiaomi has placed it in a very comfortable place, whether you use the smartphone with the right hand or hold it with the left. This, therefore, facilitates unlocking, recognizing our fingerprint about 9 times out of 10 without problems.
We have to pull the ears to Xiaomi that on this model could have thinned the lower chin of the display, thus equating it to the upper one. Beyond this, however, it is equally an excellent panel AMOLED da 6,55 " with resolution Full HD + (2400 x 1080 pixels) with density of PPI 402, form factor in 20: 9, HDR10 + and maximum brightness of 800 nits. As on Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G, then, also in this case we find a sampling rate of the touchscreen of 240Hz and a refresh rate equal to 90Hz. Even here, however, do not expect that this resolution has already been set by default by the company: you have to enter the display settings to activate it.
I will seem almost repetitive but compared to the previous version this smartphone does not lose and does not buy points in this area. We are therefore faced with an excellent quality display that returns rather deep blacks and whites tending slightly to blue. Despite this aspect, however, the color calibration is generally good, with a contrast at the height of a panel of this type. There are technical features that make it enjoyable even when watching multimedia content locally as well as on platforms such as YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and many others.
Obviously there is thealways on display which, however, here lacks bite: this is activated only when we touch the screen, therefore its presence becomes almost useless under these conditions. In spite of everything, however, I was satisfied with the lightning-fast response of the touchscreen, the brightness sensor and also the proximity sensor, much discussed on some of the latest models of the brand. The latter on this smartphone, in reality, is missing and has been replaced by an ultrasound system that is not always foolproof.
Hardware & Performance
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G integrated a Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G SoC, while here, on the 5G NE version, we have a SoC Snapdragon 778G. You will surely want to know what changes and I tell you that, in essence, the difference does not exist. Here, therefore, we are in the presence of an octa-core processor composed of 1 x 78GHz Cortex-A2,4 + 3 x 78GHz Cortex-A2,2 + 4 x 55GHz Cortex-A1,9. Really no news, therefore, in terms of performance compared to its predecessor. To this, then, we must also add 6GB of RAM LPDDR4X e 128GB of internal memory, of type UFS 2.2 (there is also a version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of memory for internal data storage). I also remind you that this memory is expandable through the use of a microSD, up to 1TB.
Going beyond the benchmarks for a moment, which you find in the next paragraph, I think this is the perfect smartphone for most of the less "geek" users. Obviously we are in the presence of a software that is not exactly immediate but, beyond this aspect, I believe that the performances expressed by this unit live up to expectations. It is not a very fast phone but Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE still manages to show good stability and excellent reliability in daily use. You will therefore be able to take advantage of all the main social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, as well as chat apps such as Whatsapp e Telegram, but not only. Switching from one application to another, the device has always been responsive, keeping a fair amount of information in memory. Clearly, however, even for an energetic discourse, not all of them are kept in memory for a sufficiently long time.
With games of the likes of Call of Duty Mobile i had practically no problems. This smartphone, therefore, can easily be used for gaming at any time, enjoying a more than satisfactory experience. Much of the credit must also be attributed to Adreno 642L GPU which has never shown great uncertainty. Also from this point of view, therefore, we can be considered more than satisfied: in addition to a slight warmth on the back, in correspondence with the CPU, in situations of high stress the phone never warms up particularly.
As seen above, the camera bump of this product integrates three different cameras: the main one is from 64MP, with ƒ / 1.8 aperture, then flanked by a wide-angle lens from 8MP with ƒ / 2.2 and a macro from 5MP with opening ƒ / 2.4. Therefore a very respectable endowment considering the price at which it is sold but which, in the end, could perhaps have given something more.
With good brightness, therefore of day, the quality of the shots is good enough. You will only have to deal with an attention to detail that is not exactly exceptional, also due to some characteristics of the lenses that cannot be clearly changed. Despite this, however, the colors are always quite vivid and with good contrast, showing a rather low and, in some cases, almost imperceptible digital noise. Obviously, a little bit is lost when you decide to switch to the 8MP wide-angle lens which, even during the day, shows its side. Here, in fact, the images are not always clear, leaving room for a much more pronounced photographic noise. Let's say, therefore, that although a few months have already passed since the release of Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G, things have not changed much.
When the notte the quality of the shots also drops, but this is inevitable. The Night Mode comes to the rescue very often, which in certain situations significantly improves the white balance and the reflections of artificial lights. Obviously it cannot work miracles but it is a welcome contribution, also considering the great work done by the software. In any case, there is no lack of more pronounced digital noise and a lower level of detail. Which does not improve at all with the use of the wide-angle camera or, even worse, the sensor for macros.
Here we find a front sensor da 20MP, therefore better than the one mounted on its predecessor. Specifically, it is a lens with a ƒ / 2.24 aperture that honestly could not have done better. In fact, during the day, it expresses good quality, managing to bring back different details of our face. The situation is different at night, however, where the camera only partially manages to keep up with this quality, showing more photographic noise and a balance of the lights in the background much worse than normal. Let's say that for sharing on social media, however, selfies can be just fine.
In addition to some nice cinematic functions (such as the presence of 8 different filters) this smartphone allows you to record video in 4K is 30fps or, alternatively, in 1080p to 60fps. Both, however, show good digital stabilization, especially in Full HD, which makes the images much more usable. Beyond the good focus, another point not to be underestimated, this is not a smartphone designed to produce videos or take particularly exciting photos. When needed, however, he is always ready.
Do you still have doubts whether to buy a Xiaomi device or not? This is perhaps because you have never tried the software set up by the Chinese company. On board this device, therefore, is located the MIUI Global 12.5.5 based on Android 11. At the time of writing, therefore, the security patches date back to September 1, 2021.
There is everything you need to access the device and start using it. With system applications, combined with the main Google apps, you have a virtually endless array of possibilities. Therefore, there is no shortage of all the various software customizations that allow you to change the interface, as well as the most popular system apps. We look forward to the arrival of Android 12 but at the moment, on this device, we hear it poco lack. I therefore confirm the usual impressions: Xiaomi's MIUI is one of the best customizations in the Android field, one of the most versatile and complete.
Audio & Connectivity
In terms of connectivity, there is no shortage of Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2,NFC, GPS (L1 + L5) / GLONASS / Galileo (E1 + E5a) / Beidou / QZSS / NavIC. This model, therefore, does not show substantial differences compared to its predecessor, not even in this respect. It is therefore proposed to offer a high-level connection both at home, under the Wi-Fi network, and outside thanks to the presence of the 5G module. Even if today it is used by few people, it is a feature that could soon become much more common, so it is good that there is on this smartphone.
During the phone calls I did not notice any disturbance, managing to converse well with my interlocutor even in the usually crowded places. From here it is clear, therefore, how the audio is adequately high and well calibrated, offering a clear voice. Even the two stereo speakers (one is hidden inside the ear capsule), however, offer a good performance when listening to music. I must admit, in fact, that despite the bass they are poco present the sound turns out to be quite full-bodied, even if there is a certain preference for medium and high tones.
Taking a quick look at the product it seems almost impossible that he could fit one battery da 4.250 mAh. Xiaomi, therefore, has almost worked the miracle, equipping this smartphone with the same amount of energy reserved for Mi 11 Lite 5G, arriving at the end of the day without any problem. Taking advantage of the phone with a mix of Wi-Fi and 4G, in fact, I have always managed to arrive in the evening with still a good 15% of remaining autonomy to spend in the evening, keeping the 90Hz active. We do not go beyond, therefore, 6 hours of screen on.
When you run dry you can easily connect it to the power outlet, using the power supply supplied in the package, which allows you to take advantage of the 33W fast charging. Thanks to it, therefore, it is possible to go from 10 to 100% in about an hour, thus being able to restart with the maximum charge in a short time.

Considering the amount at which it is sold and the quality expressed, I believe that this smartphone is to be considered as one of the best Xiaomi of the moment in its price range. In addition to offering good sensations in everyday use, thanks to its low weight and its rather thin form factor, it guarantees good reliability and more than satisfactory performance, not deviating from its predecessor. It is therefore a further confirmation in this area, from all points of view. There are still some elements to improve, above all the photographic sector, but it is also true that a phone of this type is certainly not bought for this specific reason. With the new update policy launched by the brand, then, you will be able to exploit this unit for at least the next 4 years. Xiaomi, in fact, will bring 3 major Android updates and as many years of security patches.
In light of what we have seen, therefore, we can only promote this smartphone once again. Also because its quality-price ratio really makes a difference.⭐️ Discover the new Weekly Flyer of GizChina with always different exclusive offers and coupons.
