In technology, as in life in general, sometimes you have to have the courage to take risks. However, it does not seem of the same opinion TCL, which had made a foldable smartphone made and ended up rivaling Galaxy z flip 3, Project Chicago, but which was later canceled.
TCL Project Chicago: all about the leaflet that we will not be able to have (for now)
The Chinese brand, as we know, in addition to being one of the super producers of world-class Smart TVs, also produces smartphones but above all experiences always new technologies dedicated to displays for them. But with the Project Chicago did not want to risk it. And that's a big shame, as for TCL it had to be the cheaper alternative to Samsung and Motorola.
The most disappointing thing is that the smartphone was totally ready, with well-defined technical specifications and above all a quite enviable design. In fact, starting from the displays, we have an external one from 1.1 "AMOLED, as well as the internal 6.67 ″ with Full HD + resolution. Under the body we then have it Snapdragon 765G, 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. The battery is 3.545 mAh rechargeable at 18W wired and 10W wireless. For the camera, we have a double solution from 48 MP (Sony IMX582) + 16 MP ultra-wide angle and a good selfie camera 44 MP punch-hole.
In short, this smartphone lacked nothing at all, but why was it canceled? The answer, according to TCL itself, lies in the hardware of the folding: the Snapdragon 765G in 2021 is now obsolete and would not hold up to the comparison of the Snapdragon 888 of the Z Flip 3, in addition to the fact that it is not waterproof. Hope, however, is the last to die: maybe next time we can see it with a much more competitive asset, as the brand hoped. And the price? the lowest price list among the leaflets, approx €676, equivalent of $ 800.⭐️ Discover the new Weekly Flyer of GizChina with always different exclusive offers and coupons.
