IQOO has also decided to renew its more premium range, officially presenting to the public Article 8 e iQOO 8 Pro. The sub-brand was created alive with the aim of targeting the tech enthusiast target and with these two new models it is no exception. Depending on how much you want to spend, you have a flagship with Snapdragon 888 o 888+, but not only. The new top of the range branded iQOO have noteworthy specifications even if we talk about display and camera, with a high-end hardware level.

Design and display

From an aesthetic point of view, the iQOO 8 series resumes the lines of the previous models, renewing itself in some details here and there. Let's see the partnership with BMW, which we find on both models with a special white version crossed by the band with the characteristic colors of the car manufacturer (already seen with the generations 5 e 7). The colors also change: in addition to the BMW variant, the iQOO 8 is available in White and Orange glass, while the Pro model in a carbon fiber-style version. For both we are talking about smartphones with a solution punch-hole central, even if the model Banco Pro it also sports a glass Dual Edge.

Dimensionally speaking, iQOO 8 and 8 Pro are two smartphones of different sizes, with the Pro model boasting a larger but above all more valuable screen. iQOO 8 has a screen AMOLED HDR from 6,56 "Full HD + with refresh rate a 120 Hz, under which a sensor for biometric unlocking is hidden. In the case of iQOO 8 Pro, however, we find a 6,78 "Quad HD + and the brand new Samsung E5 panel was used.

The other main difference between iQOO 8 and 8 Pro is the hardware equipment chosen by the manufacturer. Starting from the base model, we find the more than performing Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, SoC made with a 5 nm production process. Inside there is a Kryo 680 octa-core CPU up to 2,84 GHz and an Adreno 660 GPU, here assisted by 8 / 12 GB of RAM LPDDR5 e 128 / 256 GB of non-expandable UFS 3.1 storage. Going up to iQOO 8 Pro, here we find the brand new Snapdragon 888 +, so far only seen on Xiaomi Mi MIX 4, Honor Magic 3 e ROG Phone 5s. The chipset doesn't change much from the 888, but it increases the CPU speed up to 3,0 GHz and offers an AI performance boost of up to 20%. Memory cuts also change, with 256 / 512 GB of storage.

As the size changes, so do the batteries that power them. Both double cell units are 4.350 e 4.500 mAh and support powerful FlashCharge a 120W, able to do a full charge in only 18 minutes (on the standard model). The Pro model goes further, including the charging support wireless 50W (also reverse to 10W).

The software is based on Android 11 and is enriched by the proprietary OriginOS 1.0 for iQOO interface. Among the many functions present there is also that Virtual RAM, with which to virtually increase the RAM up to 4 GB.

We conclude with the photographic sector, the other aspect that differentiates the two models. On board the iQOO 8 there is a triple camera from 48 + 13 + 13 MP f/1.79-2.2-2.46, equipped with Sony IMX598 primary sensor, 120 ° wide angle and a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. On the Pro model there are always three sensors, but they are from 50 + 48 + 16 MP f/1.75-2.2-2.23 and with better quality. The primary sensor is the same Sony IMX766 of the top of the range OnePlus and OPPO, with 7P lenses and optical stabilization Gimbal 5-axis. In addition to the Chinese model, it seems that it will soon see the light too iQOO 8 Pro Global, international version of the current super flagship of the vivo brand. The device was spotted on Geekbench with the initials I2017: it is a smartphone moved by the Snapdragon 888+ (codenamed Lahaina), equipped with 8 GB of RAM and Android 11 software side. A confirmation is still missing but the most plausible hypothesis is that it is actually the Pro model in the Global version.

iQOO 8 is sold in China at a price of 3.799 yuan (€499) for the 8/128 GB variant, rising to 4.199 yuan (€552) for the 12/256 GB one. Switching to the iQOO 8 Pro, the price is 4.999 yuan (€657) for the 8/256 GB variant, rising to 5.499 yuan (€723) for the 12/256 GB one and finally 5.999 yuan (€789) for the 12/512 GB one. Sales started in China on August 24th.
