iQOO 8 Pro has the best fingerprint sensor in the world

Do you remember when vivo APEX surprised everyone at MWC 2018? The concept phone embraced a whole series of technologies that the top of the range of the time could only dream of. Everything revolved around the screen, with a pop-up camera and full design that hid various sensors, speakers and obviously the fingerprint sensor. But not just any fingerprint sensor, but one that offers greater security but above all greater convenience. And now, after 3 years, we find that type of sensor on board IQOO 8 PRO, top of the range fresh off the official presentation.

What we find below the iQOO 8 Pro screen is the sensor Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max, presented at CES 2021. Its main novelty is the increase in the release surface, with an area equal to 20 x 30 mm2, that is 17 times bigger before. The result can be seen in the video below: it is no longer necessary to peck at the exact point to unlock the phone, but just place your fingertip anywhere in the designated area. Despite being larger, it is still very thin: 0,2mm, so its implementation does not jeopardize battery capacity. Clearly the technology remains ultrasound, therefore the release can take place in a more precise and rapid way than with optical sensors.

The other advantage is that the registration of the fingerprints takes place in a single click, without having to raise and rest the fingertip repeatedly. And as anticipated, this sensor also offers more safety, allowing the most scrupulous to be able to unlock even with two impressions at the same time. To be picky, iQOO 8 Pro is not the first in the world to implement it: the primacy belongs to Sharp Aquos R6, but we are talking about a smartphone available only in Japan. Not to mention that iQOO 8 Pro can also count on a screen award-winning from DisplayMate.
