Let's face it, cleaning the house has never been easier. And for this priceless convenience, we not only have to thank the wireless vacuum cleaner market, but above all that of robotic vacuum cleaners and floor cleaners. Because if there is a sector full of alternatives, this is it. For some years now the alternatives have been many, and the offer is able to guarantee products with excellent characteristics and an affordable price for all budgets, and the Proscenic M8 Pro it is certainly one of the most distinguished examples of automatic robots for vacuuming and washing the floor.
By now we know the company more than well. Over time Proscenic has become synonymous with excellent value for money, we have appreciated it with its 850T, and we continue to do so with theProscenic M8 Pro which is enriched with a self-emptying base: it is a medium-high range model, capable of vacuuming, washing and self-cleaning, which is equipped with an excellent sensor for 3D mapping of the house.
All at a very interesting price: officially it costs 549.00 on Amazon, but through the coupon (found in the box below) you can take it home 344,60 to EUR. Not bad, right?
Proscenic M8 Pro review: robot vacuum cleaner and scrubber with self-cleaning base
Unboxing and package contents
Given its nature, the packaging of the Proscenic M8 Pro it is larger than that typical of robotic vacuum cleaners and floor cleaners. The reason is, of course, the presence of a standard-sized self-cleaning base. In addition to the robot and the emptying base, the package includes a microfiber cloth for polishing the floors, a rotating brush, a remote control to control the robot without having to be slaves to the smartphone 4 interchangeable bags to be inserted in the base for cleaning.
Design and materials
Il Proscenic M8 Pro continues to carry the typical company design with it. The shapes are decidedly simple, and there is no aesthetic element that particularly stands out. The whole robot is made with a very solid polycarbonate of a very elegant color, and in the central part of the robot there is the typical laser turret used for 3D mapping that uses a powerful system of IPNAS 4.0 sensors, which guarantee great precision in detection. the floor plan and any obstacles.
Also in the upper part there is a panel with the vacuum cleaner control keys, which are not touch and allow you to manage its operation and return it to the charging base. Below, then, there are two super-bodied wheels (able to overcome obstacles up to 1.8 cm high), the central brush and the single side brush.
The design of the self-emptying base is also very simple. The color is identical to that of the main robot and the suction point is positioned in the front area, in the center of the two charging connectors. On the top there is a status LED, next to which two touch keys have been positioned. The upper area of the turret opens: the dirt bag that has a maximum duration of 60 days must be inserted inside.
We are talking about a robot that not only sucks up dirt, but that washes and polishes floors which uses a single container for both purposes: it is combined and manages to contain 280 ml of powder and 300 ml of water. And, of course, these are not the largest containers seen in such a device, but they are more than enough for cleaning management in an apartment of about 120 square meters.
App and features
The management of the Proscenic M8 Pro takes place via the application Proscenic Home, that is the app with which the company has decided to centralize all the devices of its ecosystem, a bit like Xiaomi does. And I must admit, although initially I was not a fan of it, I had to think again even if there is one detail that I just could not make me go down.
After connecting to the wireless network and the first mapping of the house, which I recommend to do by eliminating all the obstacles that the robot vacuum cleaner might find in its path, the control of the different washing and suction modes, all the integrated functions in the robot vacuum cleaner they can be modified and managed with extreme simplicity.
Once the floor plan of the house has been created, it is possible to set up the virtual walls (beyond which the robot will not proceed), or exclude entire areas of the house. Thanks to the 3D mapping system, the floor plan is generated with good precision and the application is able to divide, in a completely autonomous way, the various rooms of the house.
You can also manage the scheduled cleaning, check the cleaning report and the state of wear of the accessories (such as filter and brushes) and access a guide that will help the user to associate with Alexa, in order to manage the cleaning even with the voice.
If, on the other hand, you do not want to use it, you can totally replace the application with a good old one remote control included in the package, with which advanced functions can also be managed, such as water flow regulation.
Suction power and cleaning quality - Proscenic M8 Pro
To animate the Proscenic M8 Pro we think of a 50w motor capable of guaranteeing a suction power of 2700 Pa, much higher for example than the 2300 of the Deebot N8 + and most robots equipped with a self-emptying base, which are accompanied by 4 levels of diffusion of the water flow. Let's be clear, floor cleaning robots actually polish more than washing, but the result deriving from this excellent suction power and good management of the water flow distributed on the floor is excellent.
It is also possible to monitor the position of the robot on the application in real time, and have a map of the areas in which the robot has already moved on to cleaning, with a lot of highlighting the path taken and the relative movements. If you also decide to use the mop function, with which the robot will spray water on the floor (which we advise you to enrich with white wine vinegar), you can choose between 4 different levels of intensity, so that the capacity of the tank can be sufficient even for an entire cleaning phase of a large room, avoiding the need to fill it halfway through cleaning: the mopping mode will be activated automatically when the structure for the microfibre cloth is assembled .
The sensors built into the vacuum cleaner will also manage to recognize carpets (which will be reproduced in the application with a zebra graphic), which will lead to a double advantage: in this way the robot will be able to modify the suction power once on the carpet and will avoid distributing the water on the fabric, if it is working in washing mode.
The noise level is good, which with its maximum 63 dB is not too annoying, but what is really noisy is the emptying process: at the end of each cleaning, the robot returns to its charging base and empties the dirt container by emitting a definitely high but necessary noise, due to the compressor used to suck the dirt into the bag positioned in the turret.
However, in our tests the Proscenic M8 Pro has managed to vacuum pretty much anything, from dust to hair, from animal hair to weird concoctions that I scatter on the floor every time I test a robot vacuum and floor cleaner. Clearly, however, not everything is perfect: if there are animal hair or long hair, it could happen that they get knotted around the side rotating brush.
The battery of Proscenic M8 Pro it is a huge 5200 mAh which is able to guarantee an autonomy of about 230 minutes at the minimum suction power. To be honest, in cleaning my house I never managed to unload it but, considering the average consumption at maximum power, I am more than certain that with the Proscenic M8 Pro apartments over 200 square meters can be cleaned.
On the other hand, the charging time is average: to go from 0% to 100% battery, it could take from 3 to 4 hours. And it is a more than logical time, considering the capacity of the battery integrated in the robot.
Price and considerations
The official selling price of the Proscenic M8 Pro is 549,00 euros on Amazon, but through our coupon (found in the box below) you could take it home for 344,60 euros. And it's a crazy figure, especially considering the quality of the product. Its spearhead is the highest suction power compared to the vast majority of the exponents of the category.
Of course, it is not a perfect model and personally I would have preferred that those of Proscenic had avoided using a single container for dirt and water (in order to increase its capacity), but at 344 euros certainly you could not expect more. .
