Not many days have passed since its official presentation, but we have had the opportunity to try this already Huawei Band 6 with the Italian language. It doesn't take too many turns of phrase to present it, given that the similarities with Honor Band 6 they are truly striking. Although these two brands have officially taken two different paths, the "collaboration" between the brands continues, and not only in terms of hardware. We would certainly have preferred to see a greater differentiation between the two products, so much so that the challenge in the end is played precisely between this device, Xiaomi Mi Band 6 and OPPO Band. In fact, at least at present, these are the major competitors on the international scene. Despite all this, however, Huawei has completed its work by offering a smartband able to compete with all the other accessories in its same market segment. You will surely want to know, however, if this product is actually worth buying, so stay with us and enjoy this Full review.
Huawei Band 6 review
As on the smartband produced by Honor, also in this case we find a white packaging that shows the design of the product on the front. Let's see how the main features of the device have been inserted on the back and poco other. Inside the sales package, therefore, we find:
- Huawei Band 6;
- charger with USB-A connection and magnetic pins;
- short instruction manual, also in Italian.
Design & Materials
Let's say that I so much appreciated the lines and shapes of Honor Band 6, and so much I appreciate the good shown on this Huawei Band 6. Beyond all the aspects that unite them, these two smart bands could represent the right compromise between a common smartband and a smartwatch. In fact, we have slightly larger dimensions than a Xiaomi Mi Band 6, while maintaining a sporty soul and designed more for those who do not like to always be attached to the screen of their smartphone. In terms of dimensions, then, we are up 43x25,4x10,99mm with just a weight 20 grams (without strap). I can safely tell you, therefore, that you almost don't feel it on your wrist after a few minutes of use. Much of the convenience is also given by the strap, rather thin, which therefore allows the wrist to breathe quite well when doing sports. This is an advantage that should not be underestimated, especially when the summer season arrives.
Also in this case I find myself slightly difficult to establish what kind of material the central case. It might actually be aluminum, but I wouldn't put my hand on the fire. In short, I am once again in the same situation in which I found myself with Honor's smartband. As in that case, therefore, we see how i find space on the lower part of this accessory magnetic pins for charging and heart rate sensor. We then have a single physical button, placed on the right frame, which actually allows us to quickly enter the main menu. We have on trial, as you can also see from the images, the Forest Green version but the product is also sold in three other different colors.
I must admit that in terms of wearability we are on excellent levels, exactly like on Honor Band 6. In this respect, in fact, the strap is really very soft and, as already mentioned, rather tight. It adapts to any type of wrist, both male and female. Ultimately, it has water resistance up to 5ATM.
How to replace the Huawei Band 6 wristband
We have seen in our Honor Band 6 review how to replace the smartband strap. Let's say that it is not an intuitive process, so much so that the videos dedicated to this topic have been wasted on the net. It must be admitted, in any case, that it is easier than expected, you just need to know how to do it and where to put your hands. Here again, therefore, also in this case a small tutorial on how to replace the Huawei Band 6 strap, in a few simple steps.
How to replace the Huawei Band 6 wristband
- Place the smartband face down
You need to turn your Huawei Band 6 with the display facing down, so you can see the heart rate sensor and magnetic pins.
- Position yourself on one of the two plastic plates
You should notice on the two attachments of the strap, right at the junction between the central case and the strap itself, two plastic plates.
- Remove the two cleats
With the fingernail of your finger it is necessary to apply pressure in the area between the strap and the plate itself, taking care to remove it using a certain force.
- Remove the strap
At this point we are really ready to remove the strap, pushing this same component upwards and extracting it from the central case.
I wish I could tell you something different, but the display is also exactly identical to what we find on the latest Honor smartband. Thus, the Huawei Band 6 shows a unity AMOLED da 1,47 " with resolution 194 368 pixels x and curved glass 2.5D. Here, therefore, we find colors rather bright and with a good contrast. These characteristics therefore allow it to be clearly visible even in direct sunlight. As on many other competing models, however, the automatic brightness sensor is missing, so every time you change the environment you need to set this parameter manually.
As anticipated, the panel is of excellent quality and I have not noticed any critical issues. Being a device produced by Huawei, then, it enjoys all those advantages of the brand such as synchronization with Huawei Health, the smartphone application, and the presence of many different watch faces. There are hundreds of them on this same app and can be downloaded in seconds even on your watch. Beyond this, then, the interface always offers the usual movement system, via gesture. Specifically, therefore, we have the following actions:
- Swipe up: you access the notifications directly;
- Swipe down: access to the quick toggle screen, being able to select Do Not Disturb Mode, Find Phone, Alarm and Settings;
- Swipe left or right: it is possible to enter into the merits of some pages that show the heartbeat, the weather, the remote control of the music and much more.
Obviously many of the things we find on the smartband are customizable, because we can decide at any time to have access to as much information as possible, or not.
Hardware & Connectivity
Huawei Band 6 and Honor Band 6 certainly share the same hardware. While I can't be 100% sure this is the way things are, I'm pretty sure the differences are nil. Both products, in fact, show the same interface speed and the same responsiveness of the touch screen. Even on the device at the center of this review, therefore, I did not notice any critical issues in this respect, resulting rather fast and comfortable to use. As on the variant produced by Honor, however, the NFC is missing and therefore it is not possible to take advantage of the smartband for any payments in the store or other. Among other things, the GPS is also missing, so in the sport phase our position will be tracked exclusively by our smartphone.
On board this device we find the Bluetooth 5.0, a module that therefore allows you to maintain excellent stability and a good connection with the phone.
Monitoring & Fitness
What is often the advantage of owning a Huawei wearable? It all comes down to the number of sports activities that are usually monitored by such products. For example, on the Huawei Band 6 we find well 96 sport and activities, all different. Let's see, therefore, how the number in this case is much higher than that seen on Honor Band 6, where the available activities are only 10. Besides the main ones, which are also shown on the main screen, therefore Outdoor Run, Treadmill, Outdoor Walk, Indoor Walk, Outdoor Bicycle, Exercise Bike, Swimming, Elliptical, Rowing Machine e Other, we have many other opportunities. Just by clicking on widget, in fact, we can add or delete all the activities that we usually do not see in the main options, including Spinning, Pilates, Karate, Darts, Kite and so high.
I don't think you need my opinion in this case to tell you that it is practically impossible to try them all, so I limited myself to what I usually test the most, so the walk outside. With this activity I was able to make a real comparison with the results obtained on Honor Band 6 and I can tell you that the performance they are identical. Even on this product, therefore, I must say that the detection of the steps is excellent, never deviating much from those actually traveled. Within the heart rate graph, then, I never noticed worrying peaks, a sign that the device has always managed to detect the heart rate without criticality. With the system TruSeen 4.0in fact, you are really in an iron barrel and it has proven to be more than reliable even during sports.
In addition to monitoring the heartbeat active 24 / 24h we have the detection of sleep. Also thanks to the system TruSpleep 2.0 this smartband can enjoy good results in this respect. I did not notice any critical issues, in fact, in the detection of the time at which I went to sleep and that of awakening. Huawei Band 6 has always been pretty accurate in this respect, sometimes showing only a very slight hourly discrepancy. Not only that, however, because through this accessory we can also go to measure the oxygen levels in the blood (SpO2), although it is difficult to say how accurate this finding is. Beyond this, the last aspect to be taken into consideration is another rather questionable parameter, namely that of stress. Despite the presence of a dedicated system, called TruRelax 2.0, I think it is one of those rather approximate measures that do not dramatically increase its value.
Many of those who enter this review will have already seen some wearables from Huawei / Honor, but for many others this will be the first time ever. I think it is right and proper, therefore, to go and see how they work and what are the main parts that make up the software. As mentioned previously, therefore, we move in theinterface through gesture. With the single button on the right, however, you enter directly into the main menu which contains the following items: Workout, Workout Log, Heart Rate, SpO2, Activity Logs, Sleep, Stress, Breathing Exercises, Music, Notifications, Weather, Stopwatch, Timer, Alarm, Flashlight, Find Phone and Settings. Each of these contains several other options through which to customize the functions of your watch.
We are still talking about a closed system, which does not allow you to interact with notifications in an active way and does not allow you to install additional apps inside it. Everything we need is contained in its software and there is no escape from here. You have to like it, of course, but I think it is essential on such a product to have a closed system like this.
Huawei Health is one of the great strengths of Huawei Band 6. Thanks to this application, in fact, we can control all the various devices of the Huawei / Honor group, finding in the homepage all the various windows which refer to steps taken, sports activities, To heart rate, sonno, the stress and blood oxygen levels. The company has decided to condense everything into one page, while keeping its interface much cleaner. Here we also find a tab relating to the associated devices within which we can change the main dial, customize various functions related to music, activate notifications, make any updates and various other things. It is not an app meant for the most fanatic of give e graphics related to sport, but it is absolutely essential.
There is also the possibility to view the various progresses within the app itself, being able to activate the various sports activities from here. As mentioned at the beginning, however, the smartband does not mount a GPS module, so the track of our movements is kept by our smartphone. Despite this, this problem shouldn't affect users who are less attentive to these aspects.
Within this smartband there is a very important component, namely the battery da 180 mAh. Thanks to it, therefore, with a rather intense use of the product, it is also possible to achieve 10 days of autonomy with a single refill. You must consider, however, that I have always kept the heartbeat detection active 24 / 24h, the monitoring of sleep and stress and the reception of various notifications every day. With less intense use we say that the smartband could even exceed 10 days.
Price & Conclusions
Huawei Band 6 is currently being sold on the official shop of the brand, on Amazon ed AliExpress at a price around 50 / 60 €.
NB If you do not see the box with code or the link to the purchase, we advise you to disable the AdBlock.
Let's say that the competition is really too fierce to declare this smartband a best buy. Beyond the price, its features are essentially identical to those proposed by Honor Band 6 and also on an aesthetic level there are practically no discrepancies. So even a small difference on the price can make a big difference in this sense. This is a good product and I hope no one misunderstands my words. I simply believe that this time Huawei should have differentiated its offer a little better, because the competition is running. To date, in any case, this remains one of the most convincing products in this area, perhaps even better than Mi Band 6 and OPPO Band. In addition to the undoubtedly larger display, there are lots of sports activities and various settings that make it rather flexible. If none of the 86 more activities than the Honor Band 6 should interest you, however, I believe that spending more on Huawei's smartband is absolutely superfluous.⭐️ Discover the GizChina Advent Calendar with 25 super offers to unveil every day until Christmas .
