Xiaomi Mi Band 6 vs Xiaomi Mi Band 5 vs OPPO Band vs Amazfit Band 5 vs Honor Band 6: all the differences

smartband comparison

With OnePlus entering the wearables sector - thanks to its first products in the field, one smartband and one SmartWatch - yet another way has opened for the Chinese house, after the experience with the mid-range and the entry level. In short, Pete Lau's company is preparing to become an even more important player for the tech market, trying to transcend smartphones to embrace the life style in the round. Currently, however, its international release is struggling to take off. And now that we have our fill of fitness trackers, too with the debut of the latest Mi Band 6 from Xiaomi, the time has come for a nice comparison, with all the differences between the main models currently available. Xiaomi Mi Band 6 vs Xiaomi Mi Band 5 vs OPPO Band vs Amazfit Band 5 vs Honor Band 6: who gets the palm of the best smarband of the moment?

Xiaomi Mi Band 6 vs Xiaomi Mi Band 5 vs OPPO Band vs Amazfit Band 5 vs Honor Band 6: comparison and differences between fitness trackers

Design & Materials

Obviously we are not here to reward one or the other wearable: our comparison aims to highlight the differences between the various models, after which it will be up to you to draw conclusions and choose the device you prefer! Let's start immediately with an overview of the design: be it OPPO Band and Xiaomi Mi Band 5 and Amazfit Band 5 they move on well-known tracks and the same goes for the Xiaomi Mi Band 6, the latest addition to Lei Jun's home. All four models offer a capsule design, with a pebble module that can be removed from the silicone strap (therefore replaceable).

A winning team does not change, yet Honor Band 6 e Huawei Band 6 they try to shake up the smartband sector, proposing a design that recalls that of Watch ES. A smartwatch look (with an almost full screen rectangular panel), albeit with some software and component renouncements and a slightly smaller display than the ES model (here you find a comparison between the two). Whether it is the right middle ground between smartwatch and smartband? Let's say that the discussion on this aspect is still open.

There is still a brief consideration to make regarding the design, because if on the one hand Mi Band 5, Mi Band 6, Amazfit Band 5 and OPPO Band offer a disassembly rather intuitive and simple, Huawei Band 6 and Honor Band 6 fail to do the same. So much so that within these two individual reviews you will find a short guide that explains just how to replace the strap of these two smartbands. It's nothing that complicated, but I think this feature is worth noting anyway.

Display

Here we link directly to the speech made previously, regarding the design of these products. We therefore inevitably have a much less classic form factor on Huawei Band 6 and Honor Band 6 that many users could tease. In spite of everything, the screen does not occupy the entire front surface therefore Xiaomi Mi Band 6 in this case it manages to do better, proposing a larger unit even in a smaller space. The latter, moreover, is the one that is seen slightly better in direct sunlight, thanks to its really bright panel that offers bright colors with good contrast.

None of these smart bands have a automatic brightness sensor, so we will always have to manually change this parameter. Despite this, however, I must say that the qualities of the various panels are good, even as regards the touchscreen. Let's say, however, that Huawei and Honor have managed to propose one fluidity slightly higher in the navigation between the menus, almost on a par with Mi Band 6. These are, however, almost imperceptible differences in daily use and which certainly do not preclude their use. Of course, however, that the glance of Xiaomi Mi Band 6 is remarkable and takes us directly to the future with this large display.

huawei band 6

There are small differences in the navigation within the various interfaces, due to the fact that su Mi Band 5 e Amazfit Band 5 there's a central button which allows us to return directly to the home. On all other wearables, however, this soft-touch button no longer exists and you move with the usual on-screen gestures. There are minimal differences in this case, so they are all quite responsive.

Hardware & Connectivity

Although different chips have been integrated on these products, all those we find in this comparison are equipped with the Bluetooth 5.0. There are no problems, therefore, in using these units with the smartphone, finding a connection that is always rather stable. There are also other points in common at the hardware level, such as the presence of heart rate sensors on the bottom.

As mentioned above, these smart bands have a touchscreen with good feedback. Thanks to the various software designed for these products, which know how to bring out the best. I must say, however, that in terms of connectivity the positive notes end here, since we do not find absolutely any model equipped with GPS o NFC. These are two features that are slow to arrive here in Italy but that some devices already offer in other countries. Just think, for example, of Xiaomi Mi Band 6 which in Asia mounts the NFC especially useful for payments.

Monitoring & Fitness

We start to find big differences only when we get a little more specific in the fitness part. Not all the various wearables brought to comparison, in fact, offer the same possibilities at a sporting level. We therefore have the smart bands produced by Huawei and Honor that already differ enough in this aspect, given that on the one hand we find the monitoring of 10 sports activities (Honor Band 6) while on the other we have well 96 activities (Huawei Band 6). These two products are practically identical and the choice between one wearable and the other is based on this aspect. Xiaomi Mi Band 6, from this point of view, has made a big step forward compared to the previous model, going from 11 to 30 sports, 6 of which can be detected by the system automatically. On the other hand, Amazfit Band 5 and OPPO Band do not stand out, which do not exceed 12 sports activities.

Beyond the various software systems that control all aspects related to fitness, I must say that only Amazfit Band 5 and Xiaomi Mi Band 5 remain slightly behind. The latter, in fact, belong to the "old" generation of smartband, not showing some features that now we find on all new products. I must also say, however, that between the two Amazfit certainly did a better job, implementing Alexa and monitoring blood oxygen levels (SpO2). All functions that reside on the other smartbands in comparison, which therefore are quite equivalent from this point of view. None showed particular malfunctions and the heartbeat detection is more or less similar with Xiaomi Mi Band 6 e Honor / Huawei Band 6 which turn out to be slightly more accurate. On the other hand, the wearables produced by Huawei and Honor in terms of sleep monitoring are almost unbeatable, since they always manage to correctly detect the time when you go to sleep and that of awakening.

It is not easy to test every single activity, so I mainly tried them with outdoor walking only. I must say, therefore, that the counting steps it is equivalent enough, with Mi Band 6 which in this respect manages to be more precise than its previous version and, obviously, also of Amazfit Band 5. The latter, however, is really much more similar to the latest releases in this regard , managing to be more or less precise like Huawei Band 6 and Honor Band 6.

Software

Difficult to judge on this aspect, as in my view it is a rather personal choice. I must say, however, that Huawei Band 6 and Honor Band 6 show ainterface clear and clean, with really minimal graphics and pleasing to the eye. Xiaomi Mi Band 6, on the other hand, offers more angular icons, with less harmonious shapes, which however focuses everything on substance. Going to analyze the various menus, in fact, we notice the presence of many items and various indications about what is inside the screens.

Despite all the differences, the substance always remains the same: we are in the presence of wearables equipped with a closed system in which it is not possible to install other external apps, so everything inside them remains there permanently. This, in my opinion, is also their strong point, as customization is reduced to a minimum and the system is more difficult to make errors or bugs. We therefore have the same type of options and the same level of customization in all the various smartbands present in this comparison, with minimal disparities. Let's say that in this respect the competition is almost nil.

App

Huawei Health, We Fit, HeyTap Health e Zepp, these are the applications on the Play Store that allow us to synchronize all the various information collected by the smartbands. Again it's complicated to make a judgment about it, so I won't. I can tell you, however, that each of them is well structured and has really clear graphics. They all look a bit like Mi Fit, one of the first among those released on the market and which, in some respects, has made school.

Taking a look at the data collected, Huawei Health is the most conservative and, probably, least suited to Sports. In fact, there are not many information collected by this app during sports, so checking your health during a walk or a run becomes less stimulating. Going to Mi Fit, however, we see how there is much more information, some of which honestly could even be useless. Among the most recent ones, then, we have HeyTap Health which has proved to be in step with the times and in line with what is proposed by the competition.

Autonomy

At first glance, Huawei Band 6 and Honor Band 6 may give the impression of having a longer battery life than the others, but this is not the case. Although the dimensions of the body are different, the 180 mAh contained within them allow us to complete quite easily 10 days of autonomy. Exactly what also happens with Amazfit Band 5, OPPO Band, Xiaomi Mi Band 5 and Mi Band 6 which in fact mount a 100/125 mAh unit.

Although a few years ago it was possible with Mi Band 2 to reach even 30 days of use, to date these results are impossible. Therefore, I would like to promote all the various participants in this comparison as they show more or less the same performance.

What changes between Xiaomi Mi Band 6 and Mi Band 5

xiaomi mi band 6 italy official price

However, one of the hottest topics of the moment concerns the differences between the new one Xiaomi Mi Band 6 and Mi Band 5. Well yes, this time we have a real generation leap; if between the fourth and fifth chapter the news were practically negligible, this time we really change (even if it is not necessary to shout "revolution" anyway. The Mi Band 6 continues to have a panel on its side AMOLED color with touch support, but compared to the Mi Band 5 we are struggling with a solution about 50% wider, all with improved resolution.

Another novelty concerns the arrival of the monitoring of oxygen levels in the blood (SpO2, it was time) and control of the sonno advanced, with lots of support for any problems related to sleep apnea. Sports modes then rise to 30.

However, regarding our comparison between smartbands, below we delve into the differences regarding specifics, with all the precise details.
