Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra arrives in Italy: everything you need to know about the super flagship
Design and display
Unlike the vast majority of cases, we already knew a lot about Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra before the launch event. This is because a YouTube channel has well thought out to publish a preview with a large dose of advance. The video was promptly deleted, but the damage is now done. However, now that it's finally official - also in Italy - let's enjoy all the details of the new super top of the range!
Like the other models in the range, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra also mounts a punch-hole panel Quad Curved AMOLED HDR10 + from 6,81 "Quad HD + (3200 x 1440 pixels) in 20: 9 at 515 PPI. The diagonal remains the same as Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro, but with larger dimensions equal to 164,3 x 74,6 x 8,38 mm and a weight of 234 g. Awarded by DisplayMate, the 10-bit panel boasts JNCD fidelity values <0,38, Delta E <0,41 and contrast at 5000000: 1. Protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, it also has Adaptive Sync technology with dynamic refresh rate a 120 Hz with touch sampling a 480 Hz. Below the screen is the sensor in the display with Goodix technology which also plays the role of heart rate monitor.
But the real novelty - and the most impressive element - is on the back. Mi 11 Ultra comes with a huge photo module, with a style that remembers POCO M3 brought to the nth degree. The camera is inserted into a large protuberance that includes the sensors, the LED flash and a new one screen secondary. This second display is an AMOLED unit with a resolution of 294 x 126 pixels at 60 Hz and is useful for taking selfies with the main camera.
Furthermore, the module can take advantage of the Always-On Display to display various details (such as time, date and battery status) and act as an alert for notifications. All without failing the certification IP68 to protect the device from the intrusion of liquids and dust.
Like all the top of the 2021 range, even Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is moved by Snapdragon 888, Qualcomm's high-end chip made at 5nm. Inside there is a renewed Kryo 680 CPU formed as follows: 1 x 2,84 GHz Cortex-X1 + 3 x 2,42 GHz Cortex-A78 + 4 x 1,8 GHz Cortex-A55. To manage the graphics component we find, as always, the Adreno 660 GPU, while we have as memory 12 GB of RAM L e 256 GB of storage UFS 3.1.
There is no shortage of the Harman / Kardon co-engineered stereo speaker system and the X-Axis linear vibration motor. The modem 5G (n1, n3, n28A, n41, n77, n78 and n79) is joined by Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and IR sensor support.
Another gem, then, is represented by wired and wireless charging, in both cases a quick fix from 67W. Let's not forget the presence of wireless charging reverse from 10W. All this is useful to supply energy to a battery from 5.000 mAh.
Numbers aside, one of the axes of the Mi 11 Ultra sleeve is the innovative technology applied to the battery. The company tells us that for the first time in the world a battery with an anode made in a will be used alloy of silicon and oxygen. This will allow the unity to be thinner and compact, but at the same time also faster in loading, as we are used to with the latest generation top of the range. A technology similar to that found in electric cars: the addition of silicon nanomaterials on the negative end will offer a higher capacity even than graphite.
Mi 11 Ultra is the smartphone of records and we will find high-level features also in the cooling system, with a new dissipation design on three levels: solid, liquid and gaseous. Inside there is a kind of thermal pad made of an organic material based on hydrocarbons. The new system causes the heat to heat this material, moving it from solid to liquid, and then turning into gas in the steam chambers. At this point, the gaseous heat will be transferred to the copper plates, spreading it along the entire body. The gas should then return as a liquid and eventually solidify again.
