Design and construction
From the point of view of design and construction OPPO is a warranty and our already very high expectations have been exceeded. OPPO Find X3 Neo it is a device made with obsessive care, it has materials that make you feel all their quality to the touch and overall great solidity is guaranteed.
Staining Galactic Silver it makes beautiful plays of light and the semi-rough pyramid texture on the back cover gives an excellent feeling to the touch. Also, the edges at the ends have a mirrored finish and make a nice contrast to the rest of the device.
The smartphone is the size of 159.9 x 72.5 x 7.99 millimeters for a weight of 184 grams, practically almost the same as OnePlus 8, which is my current daily driver. In one-handed use, therefore, you will not have too many difficulties, as it has a slender and elongated shape that facilitates the grip and in addition has a not excessive and well distributed weight.
On the right side we find the power button, which is finished with a green OPPO insert, while on the opposite side there is the volume rocker. On the upper profile you can see the secondary microphone, unlike the lower one on which the system speaker is placed, the Dual SIM slot, the USB Type-C input and the main microphone.
L'OPPO Find X3 Neo can boast of the presence of a display OLED with curved edges from 6,55 " with resolution Full HD + (2400 x 1080 pixels) and 20: 9 aspect ratio, HDR10 + support, maximum brightness of 1100 nits, density of 402 PPI, refresh at 90 Hz and 180 Hz touch sampling.
The panel in question is of great quality because it offers excellent reproduction of the color range, noteworthy contrasts and perfect maximum brightness even in direct sunlight. In short, from OPPO we did not expect otherwise, if not a refresh rate that could go over 90 Hz since the price starts to matter, let's talk about 800 €.
For the rest we find lots of personalizations within the settings, we can choose between light and dark mode and possibly how dark, whether or not to activate visual comfort, color temperature, refresh rate between 60 and 90 Hz, backgrounds, themes, edge lighting upon receipt of notifications and the always-on display.
As for the latter we can indulge ourselves among the many themes that we can apply and what to display. From this point of view OPPO wanted to let the user choose how to customize their smartphone in the best possible way.
Hardware and Performance
To move theOPPO Find X3 Neo a Qualcomm chipset takes care of it Snapdragon 865, which obviously has full support for 5G and is characterized by an octa-core processor with a maximum clock frequency of 2.84 GHz, a GPU Adreno 650, 12 GB di RAM LPDDR4X-3733 and 256 GB di UFS storage 3.1 not expandable.
We do not find the latest SoC from Qualcomm, but it is still a former top of the range and therefore the performance is excellent. Thanks also to ColorOS 11.1 the smartphone runs with great fluidity and without uncertainties, managing to perform even more complex actions or manage demanding apps without particular critical issues.
As regards the Gaming all titles are played, from the heaviest to the lightest, with maximum details and the gameplay is excellent. No problems encountered with PUBG, Genshin Impact, Subway Surfers or Clash Royale.
L'OPPO Find X3 Neo It is characterized by one Quad Room with Sony IMX766 main sensor from 50 mega-pixels and aperture f / 1.8, a wide angle from 16 mega-pixels f / 2.2, a telephoto lens from 13 mega-pixels f / 2.4 with hybrid 5X and 20X digital zoom and one macro from 2 mega-pixels f / 2.4, all seasoned with stabilization OIS + EIS and a double LED flash.
In daytime the smartphone behaves very well by returning high quality, sharp shots, with excellent colors and very good light management. The automatic HDR always intervenes at the right moments without overemphasizing the shots and, if activated, the artificial intelligence will improve the shots by correcting brightness and saturation according to the scene.
Il wide-angle sensor it performs quite well both in terms of details and color range, while the macros return an excellent natural bokeh.
As regards the telephoto I was quite satisfied, as up to the 5x zoom the sharpness is good and the colors are not altered.
In night the quality is slightly reduced and the colors are a little more mixed in low light situations. However, the night mode is able to find the light even in the darkest contexts and the results are much better where there is more lighting.
Despite this, the wide angle and zoom are the ones that suffer the most due to shots poco bright or with digital noise, but in the standard mode always with AI activated we have a good contrast and good colors.
On the front, however, there is a selfie camera from 32 MP f/2.4, which gives us excellent selfies in daytime, which are characterized by an excellent level of detail and a very good management of the lights. At night both repeats a bit what was said previously, without lighting you notice some noise and the quality is poor, but with some lights around the photos are good.
I video they can be recorded up to a maximum resolution of 4K at 30/60 fps, but there is no lack of Full HD at 30/60 fps. As far as stabilization is concerned, this is sufficient, but I expected a little better, while the colors are excellent, as well as the management of the lights and the focus which is very fast.
At night we can use artificial intelligence to improve or balance the lighting, in fact the situation changes slightly, but inevitably increases the noise.
Audio and connectivity
The audio output from the double speaker (one lower and one in the ear capsule) is powerful and of good quality thanks to a good balance of frequencies and a satisfactory bass presence.
In call the audio is crystal clear and the microphones work great, while we confirm what was said previously even using wired or wireless headphones.
From the point of view of connectivity with the Snapdragon 865 we find full support to 5G, as well as 4G + of course. Reception is very good and there are no criticalities in daily use, otherwise we have excellent performance even with the Wi-Fi ac Dual Band, Wi-Fi 6, with the Bluetooth 5.2 and with Dual-frequency GPS / A-GPS / GLONASS / BeiDou / Galileo / QZSS. I would like to point out that on board we also find theNFC for smartphone payments. Just a pity that theUSB Type-C is 2.0, although it supports OTG and reverse charging via cable.
Il fingerpint sensor is located below the display and is quick and precise, I have never encountered any particular critical issues, not even when I partially rested my finger due to haste. Alternatively, you can take advantage of the facial recognition which is very fast in the daytime, while it loses a few shots in the evening, but is still more than enough.
Quest 'OPPO Find X3 Neo is based on Android 11 with proprietary interface ColorOS 11.1, a UI that we already know very well and have enjoyed a lot in the past.
The interface of the Chinese company is one of the most complete ever, you will hardly be able to find such a large number of customizations, which will allow you to have graphics and software perfectly in line with your tastes and needs.
In fact, we find the possibility to change the themes, the icons, the colors of the menu, the font, the animation of the fingerprint, the lighting of the edges, the drawer, the always-on display. There is no shortage of settings such as split screen, smart sidebar, screen recording and off-screen gestures.
In short, we could stay until tomorrow to list them all, but I would like to point out that we also find a white noise app that will help us relax, concentrate or meditate. I present it because I personally found it very useful.
For the rest the system is very fluid, does not present bugs or jamming even in the most intense phases and in daily use it is a guarantee.
Under the body we find one battery da 4500 mAh, which gives us good results because with intense use and 90 Hz refresh rate I managed to get up to the morning of the following day without particular problems.
Finally, we find the support for charging Super VOOC 2.0 da 65W who will be able to carry the smartphone from 0 to 100% in just 30 minutes, an incredible result that will save you in many situations, especially when you have to go out and poco first you remember that you did not charge your smartphone.
In fact, according to my tests in 15 minutes recharges until 50% and 25 minutes up to 90%. Unfortunately, however, there is no wireless charging.
Conclusions - OPPO Find X3 Neo
So let's get to the conclusions and we do it with a dry answer: did I like this OPPO Find X3 Neo? Molto!
The build quality and design are excellent, the cameras guarantee results in line with the price, the display is satisfying, the performances are top of the range and the autonomy is very good, without forgetting that in 30 minutes you can recharge it completely.
However, when dealing with the price I begin to falter a little more. In fact, to take it home you need 799 €, a figure that, given the performance, would be in line with other competitors, but which data sheet in hand sees it a little behind.
Nothing to take away from the Snapdragon 865 and a display a 90 Hz which are really high-profile, but we are talking about a device that has just come out and from which we would have expected the latest solutions on the market, therefore one Snapdragon 888 and a panel a 120 Hz.
What I mean is that if I had the chance I would buy it, but not before the price has dropped and settled a bit.
However, let's make another clarification, because the Chinese company seems to have read my mind and up to 30 April reserved one really very tempting promotion and which is absolutely worth considering.
In fact, if from March 15th to April 30th you will buy theOPPO Find X3 Neo (at authorized sales points) you will receive in gift also an OPPO Watch 41mm and Bluetooth headphones OPPO Enco W51, which have a commercial value of 349 €.
This means that the smartphone would cost 450 €, a figure more than in line with the product and that would make it a real bargain. In short, by purchasing the phone you will have the entire OPPO ecosystem!
