A few hours separate us from officially discovering Black Shark 4 Pro, the culmination of the Xiaomi gaming division that today we see rewarded by DxOMark. And no, not for the camera we imagine it won't be at the top, but for the sound quality. As per the tradition of gamer smartphones, even the new exponent Black Shark has been engineered with a first-rate sound sector. And according to the Parisian evaluation team, it is even able to surpass that of high-caliber exponents like the last ROG Phone 5.

Although it has not yet been presented, we already know a lot on Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro. Since the first model, the Black Shark series makes use of stereo speakers for a more effective and satisfactory propagation of the audio output. And this is great not only in the game phases, but also for listening to videos and music from smartphones. Obviously, the new model could not be outdone, with a double symmetrical speaker. However, it is not a solution like Xiaomi Mi 11, but it is always the capsule that manages the flow at the top. Calling it "symmetrical", however, we expect the power to be comparable to that of the main speaker.

Do not miss the much loved entrance mini-jack, for all those who prefer to rely on wired headphones. The hardware compartment also consists of three microphones, as well as Cirrus Logic components and DTS and AAC support.

Black Shark 4 Pro conquers DxOMark: it has the best audio quality of all

Specifications aside, Black Shark 4 Pro managed to outdo even the very recent Xiaomi Mi 10S, placing first on DxOMark. Sound artifacts aside, the new gaming phone scored the best in every aspect, especially in the playback phase. Whether playing games or listening to music or videos, the smartphone has the most balanced frequency response ever tested by the team. The compartment offers admirable bass extension, as well as impactful and crisp dynamics, a wide stereo scene and precise sound localization. Volume levels are consistent, there is realistic rendering of sounds over distance, and there is good sound perception even at low volumes. The only flaws concern a hint of distortion at high volume and a slight hiss with some certain signals.

From a recording point of view, the Black Shark 4 Pro proves to be consistent, with the microphones capturing a bit of the entire frequency spectrum well. The only flaw is the recording in noisy environments, where artifacts and a restricted dynamics come out during videos (especially selfie ones).
