For years now, smartphone manufacturers have been trying to innovate on multiple fronts and in multiple sectors, trying to diversify their business by integrating new products into the proprietary ecosystem. This is the example of smart bands, smartwatches and headphones, but lately we have seen a new trend, namely the smart glasses. Just it last year, in fact, we were lucky enough to analyze the elegant solution proposed by Huawei in collaboration with the South Korean company Gentle Monster and today we could not fail to offer you the review of the next model, or the brand new ones Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear II.
What improvements have been made in the latter variant? How did they behave during the tests? We will answer these and other questions in our review!

The sales package is made of black hardcover, a beautiful box that can be appreciated more than last year. Inside we find the following equipment:
- Eco-leather case;

- USB cable - USB Type-C;
- instruction manual.
Design and construction
On the front of the design we must make some distinctions, as the model in our possession is the MYMA-01, which is unisex but it has a cut more suited to the female audience. Alternatively you can buy the LANG-01, also unisex, but which has smaller dimensions and can be better adapted to male users too.
Starting from the case we already find a novelty, as this time it has a square shape and personally I appreciated it more as it is less bulky and more discreet. We always find a method of wireless charging and on the back there is the USB Type-C input for charging, as well as two status LEDs internally and externally.
Moving on to glasses, from an aesthetic point of view these Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear II they do not differ from the previous model, as they are characterized by the same lines and by generous dimensions, which must be taken into consideration if you have a small face. We remind you, however, that alternatively you can buy the LANG-01 which is more discreet.
Their weight is approx 48.1 grams and are resistant to splashing water and dust thanks to the IP54 certification. In any case it is not advisable to immerse them in water or wash them in the sink because they could get damaged. I would like to point out, however, that the previous model was certified IP67.
In all of this the glasses have lenses of high quality which guarantee excellent visibility in moments of intense light and in the end they are not too heavy and can be worn well.
The rods are thick and inside them integrate speakers, microphones and sections sensitive to touch controls that make these glasses a smart product.
Connectivity, audio and operation
I Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear II they are equipped with Bluetooth 5.2 and can interface to the smartphone through the application AI Life di Huawei. Once you have made the first pairing, the glasses will connect very quickly to your device, just put them on and that's it!
The software Huawei it is very simple to use and will guide you step by step in the initial pairing. Once inside you can monitor the charge status of the glasses, set the playback of greetings when we wear the product, manage some audio information and modify gestures.
Indeed, the touch surface on the rods of the Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear II will allow us to perform various operations:
- Play / Pause: double tap on the right;
- Voice assistant: double tap on the left;
- Volume +/-: scroll to the left;
- Previous / next track: scroll to the right;
- Pairing mode: “Pinch” on the left shaft.
The touches are very well received and are precise, I must say that they have been greatly improved over the past generation, as more operations can be done.
Thanks to proximity sensors, once the glasses are removed, the music will automatically stop and resume as soon as we put them on again, as long as you do so by 3 minutes since you removed them.
Also, for those who own Huawei smartphone specific with EMUI 11 or higher (find the list of compatible devices on the site) it will be possible to take advantage of two very interesting features, namely the "Find glasses" to understand the exact location where they were left / lost and the high quality wireless recording, which collects the audio through the microphone of the glasses.
Turning now to sound quality, the Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear II they return an audio powerful enough to listen to music in peace, without isolating us 100% from the surrounding environment. In fact, whether you are listening to songs or making calls you will be able to be aware of what is happening around you (horn, ambulances, loud noises).
The audio however performs well in the reproduction of high and medium frequencies, a little less with those basse, but remember that we are not talking about a product that must replace headphones, rather like glasses capable of expanding their functionality and adaptable to other contexts.
In playing video none were found latency between sound and image, so you can watch movies and TV series in peace, while in games you notice a slight delay which, however, does not heavily affect game performance.
Thanks to the two microphones with reduction of environmental noises can be made medium quality calls, as the captured voice is a bit muffled and not perfectly crystalline, while we will perfectly hear our interlocutor.
Also, a big plus is that the call volume was turned down compared to the previous generation, so externally they will still be able to hear a little bit of the conversation we are having, but only if you are in environments poco noisy.
Autonomy
Within the Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear II we find a battery from 85 mAh which allows us to have an autonomy of approx 5 hours in music playback and calls with volume at 60%, which become approx 4 hours with volume at 100%.
In general, therefore, they behave quite well and on a typical day we can wear them without the need to recharge them in the evening. In any case this will take place by induction through the case with wireless base, which must in any case be connected to the power supply in order to recharge them.
Conclusions
Although aesthetically, not much has changed since last year, i Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear II have made several improvements in customer experience. I am referring especially to the new gestures, which have been expanded and simplified, or to the reduced volume on calls which guarantees greater privacy.
As if that weren't enough, this time the glasses were also launched at a lower price, or 299 € (instead of 399 euros), which go down to 275 € thanks to the discount code "AUNIBOXBN". We are always talking about an important figure, but which is in line with the prices of classic designer glasses.
Who do I recommend them to? To those who are not afraid of innovation and change, as well as those who have a good budget available, but always with the awareness that perfection has not yet been achieved with this product.
