After successfully launching Realm 7 e Realme 7 Pro, the Chinese company has once again decided to surprise the market of medium-low band with an even more interesting device for features, that is Realme 7 5G.
As you can clearly guess from the name we are talking about a smartphone with support for the 5G, a refined design and a with refresh rate a 120 Hz! But will these aspects be enough to make him the best budget 5G device? We just have to find out in the full review.
Realme 7 5G review
Unboxing - Realme 7 5G
Our Realme 7 5G it is a pre-production sample so the contents of the package may change slightly. However, this is made in the classic yellow hardcover and inside there is the following equipment:
- Realme 7 5G;
- silicone cover;
- power supply with 30W output;
- USB cable - USB Type-C;
- pin for the SIM slot;
Construction and design
Il Realme 7 5G is a mix between the Realm 7 and Realme 7 Pro, in fact we find a back cover similar to the latter, but a lateral fingerprint sensor like the first. More in detail on the back we find a body in polycarbonate with two-tone opaque processing that gives beautiful plays of light and a premium feeling even if it is not made of glass.
The camera also takes up the style of the Pro, but the general dimensions recall the basic variant. 162.1 x 75 x 9.1 millimeters for a weight of 194 grams, these are the measures of the new entry in the house Realme, which will not make it impossible to use with one hand and which now represent the average size of a device in this price range.
In all this, the smartphone grips well and the side fingerprint sensor (which also integrates the power button) can be reached easily. Furthermore, this will also result very quick e accurate, practically never getting it wrong.
Although the rear body is one with the side frame, we cannot say the same with the front, as the usual one is still present step. However, as mentioned above, the Realme 7 5G it does not differ from the other two models already presented, so it would have been difficult to see any major changes in the design.
On the left side you can see the dual SIM or SIM + microSD slot and the volume rocker. Below we find the 3.5 mm audio jack input, the main microphone, the USB Type-C port and the system speaker, unlike the upper one on which only the second microphone resides.
Il Realme 7 5G has a display IPS da 6.5 inches diagonal with resolution Full HD + (2400 x 1080 pixels) in 20: 9 with density of PPI 405Protection Gorilla Glass 3 e refresh rate by well 120 Hz.
The company this time went beyond the 90 Hz already shown above Realm 7, renewing an aspect much requested by users. Furthermore, it could also be an answer to the POCO X3 NFC which at the moment represents one of the low-cost solutions to offer the same feature.
This will allow us to have gods advantages especially in Gaming, without forgetting the effect that such a high refresh rate will have on our eyes. However, in the settings you will be able to select only two options: 60 o 120 Hz. THE 90 Hz have been cut out and while selecting the automatic mode, the system will independently choose the refresh rate only between these two.
Apart from this aspect we find the same panel already seen on the Realm 7, that is a unit characterized by a good color balance and white, a minimum and maximum brightness adequate in almost all contexts of use and, unfortunately, still very light light bleeding at the edges of the display as well as around the selfie camera hole.
Through the settings we will have a long series of customizations such as those relating to color temperature, dark mode, visual comfort, fonts and more.
I conclude this aspect by saying that we find a certification Widevine L1, then you will be able to see the movies and TV series in high quality on most streaming platforms.
Hardware and Performance
To ensure support for the 5G we find a different chipset than the two models seen last month, in fact the Realme 7 5G is moved by MediaTek Dimensity 800U, which is inclusive of an octa-core processor with a maximum clock frequency of 2.4 GHz, GPU Mali-G57, 8 GB di RAM e 128 GB Expandable internal memory via microSD.
In daily use, the performance perfectly reflects those of smartphones located within this price range, so much so that from the benchmarks we see results almost identical to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G of Realme 7 Pro.
In fact, I have not encountered any particular slowdowns, I have noticed a good management of processes in multitasking, without forgetting the fact that I was able to play casual titles such as Brawl Stars, Clash Royale e Subway Surfers without criticality.
Just the Gaming is a sector in which the company has paid particular attention, both for high refresh rate and for a dedicated software section. Going deeper into the discussion, once a game is started it will be possible with swipes to open a quick menu through which to monitor fps, the sforzo area of CPU e But by the full GPU acceleration tech and manage some quick settings. I leave you the screenshot below to get a clearer overview.
L'gaming experience with more elaborate titles like PUBG è very good, as it will be possible to reproduce them with maximum details and frame rates at 30 fps, which remain constant and without noticeable drops. Everything runs smoothly and even after several minutes of playing the smartphone will not tend to heat up excessively.
Il Realme 7 5G owns one quad camera with main sensor from 48 mega-pixels, a wide-angle lens da 8 mega-pixels and two others from 2 mega-pixels respectively ToF e macro. Also in this case nothing changes compared to the standard variant.
In conditions of good brightness we have shots characterized by a good level of detail, rather faithful colors and in general a good management of lights. In short, results perfectly balanced with the price at which it is sold.
La wide-angle lens flaws a little in the details, although it manages to guarantee us sufficient results for sharing on social networks, while in the macro we can see a good natural bokeh and a more than sufficient quality.
In night the situation changes and the performances go down, in fact, in situations with little lighting the shots are more difficult and you notice some digital noise, but fortunately the night mode will help us by improving the final result (provided that you have a good steady hand).
Frontally we find a camera from 16 mega-pixels whose performance does not differ much from that of the rear camera. I leave some samples below to show you the results in all lighting conditions.
I video they can be registered up to a maximum resolution of 4K, as well as 1080p at 30 or 60 fps, supported by digital stabilization. Discreet definition and stabilization, sufficient color balance and very fast focusing.
Audio and connectivity
L'audio output from the lower speaker is sufficiently powerful, although the sound is a bit flat, balancing mostly the mid and high frequencies rather than the low ones. In the ear capsule, however, you can enjoy crystal clear audio that will guarantee excellent calls.
As already introduced previously, thanks to the MediaTek Dimensity 800U we find support at the 5G + 5G DSDS, as well as to Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi Dual Band, NFC e GPS / A-GPS / GLONASS. Reception is good and I have not encountered any particular problems even with Bluetooth or satellite navigation.
Il fingerprint sensor is placed on the right side and works very well, but we also find the support of the facial recognition 2D, which recognizes our face well even in the evening, as long as the display has a brightness that illuminates your face (already 30/40% is enough).
To move the Realme 7 5G we think the usual Realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10. By now we already know it very well and we have appreciated it on several occasions fluidity and the possibility of Customization.
In fact, we can change the themes, the shape of the icons and the font, or even set the smart sidebar, the "assistive sphere", clone apps, split the screen, open the "play space" and much more.
This interface has so much to offer, it is fast and with the refresh rate to 120 Hz one has the impression of traveling even faster.
Under the shell we find a battery from 5000 mAh, which will allow us to obtain one very good autonomy and that it will fully recharge in just 65 minutes thanks to 30W Dart Charge with the supplied power supply.
With intense use, 30 minutes of PUBG and automatic refresh rate option (so he chose when to intervene at 60 and when at 120 Hz) I managed to arrive in the evening without any problem with yet of the residual battery for the morning of the next day.
So here we are at the end of this highly anticipated review. Realme 7 5G takes several features from Realm 7, is enriched with a very good hardware it's a modem 5G and is fired with the shell of Realme 7 Pro. The result is a good device that guarantees the right balance within its reference range.
With the launch of this smartphone, the Chinese company wants make the 5G and make consumers understand that the challenge with Xiaomi to compete for the medium / low range it is fiercer than ever.
In fact, the Realme 7 5G is officially available at 279 €, a figure consistent with the product and with the performance shown during the tests. However, the device will be on special offer at 229 € for the Black Friday from 27 to 30 November. It is certainly not perfect, but this figure remains a solution to be seriously considered to have the latest connectivity currently available.
