It was just missing OnePlus North among the latest prominent releases to enter the photographic quality ranking drawn up by DxOMark. Unlike almost all of the tested devices, it is a model that aims at the medium / high range, inheriting some specifications from the more advanced models. The photographic sector is composed of the same primary as the OnePlus 8 base, a 586 MP Sony IMX48, together with an 8 MP wide-angle lens and two 5 and 2 MP sensors for macro and depth.
DxOMark evaluates the OnePlus Nord camera, with satisfactory results
More specifically, here is the hardware profile of the OnePlus Nord camera:
- Primary 26 mm of 48 MP f/1.75, 1 / 2,0 ″ and OIS
- 16 mm 8 MP wide angle f/ 2.3
- 5MP depth sensor f/ 2.4
- 2 MP macro f/ 2.4
- 4K video at 30fps, 1080p at 30/60/240 fps
The combo between hardware and software has allowed OnePlus Nord to reach on DxOMark 108 points. It is not a score that drives it away not poco from the top 10, but it is normal, since it is a “premium mid-range” smartphone and not a camera phone with all the trappings. Keeping expectations within the norm, it is a smartphone that does not disappoint at all, with good levels in terms of exposure, color, autofocus and details. To keep the score low are the parameters related to bokeh and night mode, two parameters in which Nord could improve. The same goes for the zoom, due to the lack of a telephoto lens, and the wide angle is also perfect. On the contrary, stabilization proves efficient, while the autofocus can prove to be lacking in its functioning.
As for the recorded clips, DxOMark gave 92 points to the sector video by OnePlus Nord. The results are respectable for the price range it aspires to, with more than sufficient quality but blaming the low lights. Although there is an optical stabilization system, moving the smartphone the image can be shaky. Even with videos, autofocus is one of the main flaws of the smartphone.
