A significant change is coming for what concerns the appearance of the Android notifications. The Android Unified Push Alliance has confirmed receipt of the confirmation from numerous Chinese manufacturers. Among these are Huawei ed Honor, but also OPPO, Realme e OnePlus, which have adhered to the latest T-UPA0002-2019 standard. This means that all these brands will introduce the unified push notifications.
Upgrade 08 / 04: new companies are added to the consortium, find the list at the end of the article.
Unified notifications: a consortium is born between Huawei, OPPO and OnePlus
To date, in fact, these companies had relied on their own notification systems within their respective Android-based custom ROMs, rather than relying on Google's push notification service. To overcome this, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China created theUnified Push Alliance, combining push notifications sent by the apps. Within this "alliance" there are also other Chinese OEMs, such as Xiaomi e Qihoo 360, but also Alibaba and JD. The goal is to create a notification system that does not go to awaken the app, so as to preserve more autonomy.
In the case of Huawei and Honor, this support will be introduced within the new EMUI 10, while for OPPO it will be the case of ColorOS 3.0 and above. Realme will be responsible for updating all its models, while OnePlus will make all models from OnePlus 5 compatible. The relevant updates are also expected for Xiaomi, Vivo and iQOO, even if there is still no specific date.
Upgrade 08 / 04
Since last September other companies have joined the consortium which responds to the name of the Unified Push Alliance. Among the new members we find brands like Xiaomi, Redmi, Vivo, iQOO, ZTE, Samsung e Smartisan.
