Today is the presentation day for Honor 30 which, as seen with other manufacturers, will be offered in 3 different models. The most "succulent" one will be Honor 30 Pro +, endowed with the best expression in the photographic field by the company. A smartphone capable of keeping up with the direct cousin Huawei P40 Pro, as shown by the evaluation obtained on DxOMark. The top of the range Huawei remains firm in first position, but the new Honor still manages to unseat Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro and OPPO Find X2 Pro. A second position obtained thanks to the qualities expressed by triple camera supplied: let's see it in more detail.
Let's start from the hardware section of Honor 30 Pro +:
- Primary 50 MP (shots at 12 MP) f/1.9, 1 / 1.28 ″, Octa-PD autofocus
- Wide angle 17 mm 16 MP f/2.2, 1 / 3.09 ″, PDAF
- 125mm telephoto lens 8 MP f/3.4, 1 / 3.6 ″, PDAF, OIS
Compared to P40 Pro, it is noted that the primary sensor is strangely free of OIS, unlike the periscope telephoto lens. It should be noted that the firmware with which it has been tested will be released only later to the public, during May. No ToF sensor, while instead the new software like AI RAW there are, with which to blend uncompressed frames to improve detail, noise and dynamic range.

DxOMark rewards the photographic quality offered by Honor 30 Pro +
The white balance system is based on neural networks, having a myriad of data available to adjust it both in photos and videos. Furthermore, with the Field-of-View Fusion the frames obtained from the primary sensor and telephoto lens are joined when zooming between 3x and 5x, for the benefit of detail. Also on the software side there are modes such as Super Resolution, to have a more detailed detail in the Bokeh mode, and an HDR in videos always based on neural networks.
All this produces a good dynamic range, a bonus both outdoors and when the light is scarce. The balance between details and photographic noise satisfies in all conditions, as well as the speed and reliability of the new Octa-PD autofocus. Needless to say, the telephoto lens guarantees high details even on medium / long distance.
And while there isn't a dedicated ToF, artificial bokeh shots are well done. Very good shots with the wide angle, with poco noise on the screen, and even at night a great job was done. Especially when it comes to exposure, with good results even automatically and without the aid of the dedicated mode.
Here, then, is how the DxOMark ranking is composed today:
- 128 - Huawei P40 Pro
- 125 - Honor 30 Pro +
- 124 - Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, OPPO Find X2 Pro
- 123 - Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G
- 122 - Honor V30 Pro
- 121 - Huawei Mate 30 Pro, Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition
- 117 - Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ (4G and 5G)

- 114 - OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T Pro
- 113 - Honor 20 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10 +
Recall that the evaluation of DxOMark on the camera is still missing Huawei P40 Pro +, with which they will all be undermined by one position.
