We just have to find out in our full review!
Review Redmi Note 7
Unboxing
The sales package changes compared to the Chinese version, as this time we have a white and orange box and inside we find the following equipment:
- Redmi Notes 7;
- silicone cover;
- wall power supply with European socket and 5V output = 2A;
- USB cable - USB Type-C;
- manuals;
- pin for the SIM slot.
Design and construction
Il Redmi Notes 7 Global it has no aesthetic differences compared to the Chinese variant, other than some writing on the bottom of the back cover. So we feel like repeating what we said a few weeks ago, in fact, our dimensions are not exactly compact, but thanks to the 19.5:9 ratio of the display we will be able to hold the smartphone without too many problems, even if using it with one hand is not very easy. More specifically the new device Redmi has the dimensions of 159.21 x 75.21 x 8.1 millimeters for a weight of 186 grams.
Generally speaking, design it doesn't appear to be very original due to a rather standard notch in the medium/low range (as well as the frames) and a somewhat anonymous back cover. However, the good thing is that the latter is made in glass, although to the touch it gives a slightly plasticky due (also, but not only) to the oleophobic treatment not at the top.
I may seem a bit harsh in these judgments, but in reality the construction it is very good and theassembly it's solid. In fact, overall the Redmi Note 7 gets a score certainly highest respect to competitors belonging to the same market segment (but also with a higher price) especially since they usually have a fairly inexpensive plastic back cover.
The only point that really makes me turn up my nose concerns the projection of the dual chamber rear, which has a step really too high and when you put your smartphone on the table this will tend to wobble excessively. Using the included silicone cover the problem will not be solved, as the chamber will continue to protrude.
At the bottom we find the USB Type-C input, the main microphone and the system speaker, while on the upper profile there is the mini-jack input, the infrared and the secondary microphone. I would also like to open a small parenthesis because, finally, after years of Micro USB we have moved on to the type C input despite this smartphone continuing to belong to a medium/low range and I also really appreciated both the mini-jack input and the IR sensor (in my opinion very useful).
On the right side there is the power button and the volume rocker, unlike the left one where the SIM slot is present. Finally, from the front we can see the ear capsule, the selfie camera, the brightness and proximity sensor and, at the bottom, the notification LED.
Display
The Redmi Notes 7 Global has a display IPS da 6.3 inches diagonal with resolution Full HD + (2340 x 1080 pixels), report in 19.5:9 and density of PPI 409.
We are faced with a very large panel, perfect for enjoying multimedia and video games of all kinds. There visibility under the light of the sun is good as well as the maximum brightness. However, some defects remain with regards to the chromatic range. In fact, in general the colors have a slightly colder hue than other IPS and are above all less loaded.
Despite this, comparing the variant Global with that Chinese I noticed that the first one has gods better colors thanks to a slightly lower contrast.
Hardware and Performance
Under the body of the Redmi Notes 7 Global we find a chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 including a processor octa-core with a maximum clock frequency of 2.2 GHz, GPU Adreno 512, 4 GB di RAM e 64 GB di internal memory expandable via microSD.
We have nothing to criticize from the hardware point of view, as we find the best we can expect in relation to the price. In fact, thanks to the now well-established Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 the performances are really very good and aexcellent fluidity in all daily operations. Opening apps is quick and the software makes everything run smoothly.
La GPU behaves very well both with lighter games like Clash Royale e Subway Surfers that with heavier titles like PUBG, which by default is executed a average details, but which guarantees aexcellent gameplay also with details at most thanks to the absence of lag.
Camera
Il Redmi Notes 7 Global it has the same modules as the Chinese variant, in fact, we are faced with one dual chamber with sensors from 48 + 5 mega-pixel. The first is a Samsung S5KGM1 with opening f / 1.8, while the second is a Samsung S5K5E8 dedicated to the depth of field. For the rest we have an autofocus PDAF Dual pixel, dual flash LED e digital stabilization.
Of the sensor a 48 mega-pixels we have already talked about it in the previous review and we report what has already been said. In fact, normally the smartphone will trigger a 12 mega-pixels and only going into the Pro mode we can shoot at 48 mega-pixels.
“The question needs some clarifications: during normal shooting the sensor combines 4 pixels into 1 and everything is processed via software. When shooting at 48 mega-pixels, however, you will have to deal with the "pure" work of the sensor; in this case it will be necessary to adjust the Pro settings to get the best and this is where the problem falls. The more experienced certainly won't have any problems, but for those who don't know the basics of photography it will take a lot of effort to get good manual shots.”
In practice often the photos from Redmi Note 7 will come better at 12 mega-pixels as basic it is present less grain. Going to touch the various settings we can improve the shot. These photos are slightly less detailed compared to those made in Pro mode, but basically what is it used for? 48 mega-pixels with a smartphone? The weight of a photo is around 12 MB and in any case should it be published in the social media this would come tablet automatically. There difference in detail it is visible only with extreme zoom on a monitor.
Having said that, I must say that, thanks to the good level of detail ea gods good colors (although sometimes they are a little too saturated), in favorable lighting conditions the photos are very good for its price range. The general quality is more than enough and I was also surprised by the portrait mode that manages to very well shatter the framed subject. In backlight you can see the very light lens flare and lighting management sometimes is ballerina, but overall we can be more than satisfied.
In night the general quality obviously tends to decline and can easily be seen of the digital noise. Fortunately the night mode implemented by Xiaomi allows us to take home the best and most suitable for social sharing. In fact, more emphasis is given to the scene with brighter colors and greater contrast and brightness.
Frontally we find a camera from 13 mega-pixels which gave us some results fluctuating. In fact, as always the software of Xiaomi tends to set a kind of basic beauty filter which cannot be deactivated and which tends to "porcelain" the face (pass me the term).
In situations of uniform light the quality is good, otherwise we will notice some lens-flare in backlight and a somewhat fluctuating lighting management. In night the details drop and we can notice some grain due to the increase in digital noise.
As regards the video these can be registered up to a maximum of Full HD a 60 FPS. Very good la digital stabilization for its price range and, furthermore, the autofocus is decidedly fast. I perhaps noticed some colors that were a little too contrasty.
Audio
THEaudio coming out of the speaker is rather powerful and one can also note a good balance of frequencies. Not surprisingly we have a chip 98937 smartpa that he was not present on his predecessors. The Redmi Notes 7 Global it also gets a passing grade with regards to the audio in the earpiece and that captured by the microphone.
Connectivity
Il Redmi Notes 7 Global supports Dual SIM with LTE e support to the 20 band. So in terms of reception I have not encountered any problems even though we are not at the levels of Huawei. Also present is the Wi-Fi dual band, Bluetooth 5.0, the infrared sensor, the FM radio and the GPS / A-GPS / GLONASS / Beidou, which has behaved very well in satellite navigation. Unfortunately, as on the Chinese variant it is absent the NFC.
Il fingerprint sensor placed on the back cover it is very fast and precise, we can say that the release happens successfully around 9 times on 10. Furthermore, it is also present facial unblock via the selfie camera and it too turns out to be decidedly reactive both day and night.
Software
This is the sector in which the Redmi Notes 7 Global e China really differ, as we find on board the MIUI Global 10.2 based on Android 9 Pie with security patches updated to January 5 2019.
Unlike the Chinese software we obviously find the Google services and Play Storebut above all, a more stable system ed free from lag or various jamming. The only note we would like to make again concerns the notifications. Because even this time Xiaomi failed to correct this annoying defect of the MIUI on devices with notch.
In fact, the icon notifications will be shown for a few seconds upon receipt on the notification bar and then disappears afterwards. So to find out if we have received any messages, we will have to lower the curtain every time.
For the rest we know this UI very well and we know it is full of customizations including record screen, dual app, second space, full screen gestures (which do not hinder daily operations when using other apps) and much more.
Autonomy
Under the body of the Redmi Notes 7 Global we find one battery da 4000 mAh, which allows us to have one very good autonomy. In fact, with stressful use we got an average of about 6 hours of active screen with a minimum of 5 hours and a maximum of 7.
Although it comes with a power supply with standard charging (which takes about 2 hours to recharge), the Redmi Note 7 supports the Quick Charge 4.0.
Conclusions
Redmi Notes 7 Global improves compared to Chinese variant Thanks to a software more stable, in the presence of 20 band but above all, thanks to a very aggressive list price and lower than the Asian counterpart. In fact, the smartphone is sold by 15 and 21 March a 179 € in the variant 3 / 32 GB e 199 € in the variant 4 / 64 GB. You will find the purchase links in the next few days on our channels Facebook e Telegram di GizDeals!
Below the official version from 3 / 32 GB on Amazon Italy:
With such a competitive price Xiaomi has decided to face up to e beat la competition from all points of view. Indeed, the Redmi Note 7 it offers the best you can ask for in this market segment and above all it does without giving up.
The only two defects that could make users turn up their noses may concern theabsence of NFC and the appearance of notifications, but otherwise we are facing one of the most complete and functional devices of the moment. In short, for us there is no doubt: Redmi Note 7 is a best buy and I would recommend it with your eyes closed if someone asked me which smartphone to buy with a maximum budget of 250 €.
