In the last year we have witnessed a real boom of wireless earphones and we had the chance to try many models, from the cheapest to the most expensive. Some surprised us for their value for money, while others disappointed our expectations. However, today we are going to analyze one of the most anticipated devices of recent weeks, or the Xiaomi AirDots, which are characterized by a minimal design, a good technical card and a truly attractive price. Let's find out more in detail in our review.

The sales package is made of white hardback and inside it we find the following equipment:
- Xiaomi AirDots;
- charging dock from 300 mAh;
- USB cable - Micro USB;
- 4 spare tires;
- instruction manual.
- Frequency range: 20Hz ~ 20.000 Hz;
- Sensitivity: 106 ± 3 dB;
- Impedance: 16 Ω;
- Driver: 8 mm.
Design and construction
The design of the Xiaomi AirDots it is minimal and in full style Xiaomi, so once worn they will not make you jump even because they are not too bulky. In fact, the size of the headphones are quite compact, that is 2.30 x 1.45 x 1.30 centimeters for a weight of 42 grams.
Il charging dock It is very compact and very elegant, you can easily insert it into the pocket of your jacket without annoying you because of its size.
For the rest, the headphones have an external surface sensitive to touch. Across the single touch we can go and put Play / Pause, With a Double tap we will call thevoice assistant and with one prolonged pressure we're going to turn off the earphones. The command is taken almost instantly, but you have to be precise and press exactly in the middle.
Connectivity and coupling
This was the only annoying and negative aspect of these headphones, as at the first start it will be possible to connect the smartphone only to the left or right earphones. In fact, they will not be set on stereo mode but you will have to do it manually.
If you think you are proceeding with an intuition, you are mistaken, because you Xiaomi AirDots they will only speak to you in Chinese and you will not be able to conclude anything. So I had to perform the following procedure for at least 3-4 times before making them pair with each other:
- take a headset from the case and press long (about 30 seconds) on the special touch area to turn it off (after a few seconds a red light will flash, you will have to wait for it to flash a second time);
- take out the other cap and repeat what was said previously;
- insert both headphones into the charging dock and hold them there for at least 5 seconds;
- extract the Xiaomi AirDots which should be synchronized with each other;
- connect them to your smartphone via Bluetooth. Only one of the two headphones should appear in the menu.
After solving this problem, I have no more and I have had Xiaomi AirDots they always worked perfectly.
For the rest these are headphones true wireless Equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, which guarantees to the device dei very low consumption and the ability to connect to two devices at the same time (smartphone + tablet or 2 smartphone or more). Once pulled out of the dock, the pairing è very quick and in a few seconds you can proceed with listening to your favorite songs.
The manufacturer claims that the maximum coverage reaches i 10 meters and I can safely confirm this, but only if there are no obstructions, as with the walls (fairly thick) of the reception is less good.
Finally, when we go to remove the headphones these will not automatically go into standby but they will continue with playback until we store them in the charging dock or until they are manually turned off.
La sound quality of the Xiaomi AirDots è very goodin fact, we find a good balance of frequencies with a higher prevalence of bassi and this I do not mind at all. The maximum volume is very high, but we can isolate ourselves even with the volume in half.
In callinstead, the situation is slightly different, as the audio results to be less clean and with more rustle. The microphone is stereo but can not perfectly capture our voice making it a little 'more metallic. However this result was fluctuating because very often it happened when I was farther away from the smartphone.
A very positive aspect, however, is that does not present any latency when we watch a video on YouTube or a movie on Netflix, so these are also perfect for watching multimedia content as well as for playing music.
Le Xiaomi AirDots they are equipped with a battery from 40 mAh (with headphones), which allows us to obtain aexcellent autonomy. In fact, with volume al 70% I managed to get to 5 hours continuous playback. There half overall therefore hovers around the 4 hours e 30 minutes. A truly remarkable result if we also calculate that the charging dock has a battery from 300 mAh that can recharge them 70 times the radiating power,. So if you use them occasionally you will be able to listen to music for one week without the need to recharge the dock.
The latter needs around 1 30 hours and minutes to pass by 0 to 100%, While the headphones they need it around 50 / 60 minutes.
Le Xiaomi AirDots they were launched several weeks ago China a 199 yuan, or approximately 25 € at the exchange rate, which is a price definitely endearing. Unfortunately, given the lack of availability the price went to rise on various Chinese stores like GearBest, reaching in fact i 37 € with coupons 66 regular euros.
The product turns out to be very valid thanks to a good sound, a nice design and an excellent autonomy, but still has some flaws initial pairing side and with the audio on call. For this reason at the moment the current figure makes it anyway better than many others low-cost wireless headphones, but not enough to be considered of the absolute best buy.
In my opinion below the threshold of the euro 45, you should seriously evaluate the purchase. On our channel Telegram dedicated to products Xiaomi you will find daily updated offers on this product and many others of the brand.
