In the era of multimedia streaming, updating your non-smart TV has become an obligation to be able to use all the services. One of the cheapest ways to do this is to use a TV Box equipped with Android: in this review we will analyze the Globmall X4.
Globmall X4 TV Box Review
In the very simple black cardboard box we find:
- Globmall X4;
- remote control (without batteries);
- DC wall power supply 5V 2A ;.
- HDMI cable;
- quick manual.
Construction and Design
The Globmall X4 is characterized by a design extremely compact, by a good supply of inputs and plastic materials of good quality, while the outward appearance is overall pleasant and not at the base of a TV. The remote control is built with equal care, offering an excellent impression of solidity.
In the side edges of the device we find all the doors, respectively: SPDIF to connect Hi-Fi systems, Ethernet for the wired network, input HDMI, input for power supply and a card reader microSD. On the front we find instead a small one digital that will indicate the time when the device is on.
Hardware and Performance
Globmall X4 comes with a hardware configuration sufficient for the operations for which it is intended. The device, in fact, is powered by a chipset Amlogic with processor quad-core Cortex-A53 da 2.0 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and a memory eMMC da 16 GB, while the graphic sector is entrusted to a GPU Mali-450MP da 750 MHz. The device also has support Wi-Fi a / b / g / n e Bluetooth 4.0.
Despite the sufficient equipment and good connectivity, the Globmall X4 is not the fastest TV Box you can find. In fact, it has many uncertainties and is also an accomplice of this poor sensitivity of the remote control, which works once in three, giving the impression of having continuous slowdowns.
This sector has real gaps. The system is poco optimized: although there is an attempt to facilitate use via remote control, through a kind of UI which is actually only a Home Page, the system is not convincing. Android it's at the version 7.1.2 with stock applications: these, however, are slowed down in the opening by the customization of Globmall.
Furthermore, the fact that since Play Store the. apps were not downloadable Netflix ed Infinity, which can still be installed via file APK. Once installed, to use them will still be necessary to use a mouse or another input tool, because the remote control affects the navigation.
No problem for playing files in 4K located in the local memory and for movie playback, up to Full HD, its You Tube, while for online streaming in 4K we have some too many uncertainties. Finally, Globmall X4 has the certification Widevine DNR L3, so streaming from platforms like Netflix it will only be in Standard Definition and not in HD / FHD, regardless of the type of subscription subscribed.
Globmall X4 - Conclusions
Globmall X4, although usable, it is certainly not the solution to non-Smart TVs. The necessary use of the mouse, then, makes it a tool poco practical for living room use and interface poco intuitive is not suitable for everyone. Finally, the price, despite being quite low, is not justified by the relationship with the general quality of the product.
