Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Sales package
Inside the sales package of the Mi Pad 2 (which aesthetically follows the lines of that of the already reviewed Xiaomi Redmi Note 3) we find:
- Xiaomi Mi Pad 2;
- wall charger with non-European socket, USB input and 2.0A output;
- USB cable - TypeC;
- instruction and warranty manuals in Chinese.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Design and materials
The lines of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 are not very original and in fact they seem to be clearly inspired by those of Apple's iPad Mini. However, it would not be fair to dismiss the design of the device by labeling it as a “clone”, especially given the build quality and materials. Mi Pad 2, in fact, is built in an impeccable way and finding defects is practically impossible.
Xiami's new tablet measures 200.4 x 132.6 x 6.95 mm for solo 322 grams; ergonomics is good and the device, with its 7.9-inch display, can be held quite well even with one hand (especially for those who have large hands), even if the use is necessarily the one with both hands hands.
The frame of the Mi Pad 2 is made entirely of high quality aluminum and the assembly is definitely well made.
Below you will find the layout of the buttons and inputs available on the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2.
Starting from the bottom side, we find the only USB Type-C connector for charging and connecting to the computer.
On the opposite side, at the top, there is the 3.5mm connector for the headphones.
The right side, on the other hand, presents, starting from the top, the rocker arm for adjusting the volume and the button for switching on, locking and extinguishing.
The left side, finally, is completely clean.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Display
Data sheet at hand the display of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 it can already be said to be impressive; first of all we are faced with a panel from 7.9 inches with resolution equal to 2048 1536 pixels x, of matrix IPS and with a pixel density of 324 PPI.
The quality of the images is very high: the panel has an excellent color calibration, the brightness is high enough to allow a good display of the contents and the sensor for automatic brightness adjustment works well.
The viewing angles are good, even if the blacks, albeit of a good level, are not absolute.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Internal memory
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is equipped with an internal memory that varies from 16 ai 64GB according to version; in our test we used the 16GB version, in which, net of the operating system resources, we find available poco more than 12GB.
Furthermore, it is not possible to expand the internal memory due to the absence of a micro SD slot.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Hardware and performance
On board the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 we find a good level of hardware; under the hood, in fact, an Intel heart beats, specifically theAtom X5-Z8500 Quad-Core 2.24GHz (with Cherry Trail architecture at 64-Bit), 2GB of memory RAM LPDDR3 1600 MHz, and one Intel HD Graphics GPU with a clock set to 600 MHz.
From the point of view of performance the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 does not miss a beat, despite the ROM installed on board is not yet a 100% stable version; the Xiaomi home device offers excellent performance in practically all types of uses, starting from gaming to video playback.
Regarding the latter, Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 guaranteed the reproduction of videos with 4K resolution and H.264 codec in MP4 format (and obviously also lower resolutions), while in gaming it always showed excellent performance, without lag and / or drops of frames.
Below you will find the benchmarks performed on the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Audio
The most surprising aspect of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 concerns the sound quality the double stereo loudspeaker the device is equipped with; in the various multimedia tests conducted, the volume was found to be very high, in many cases even higher than that found on many notebooks.
Furthermore, the quality is of the highest level and the frequencies are well balanced.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Camera
The photographic sector generally does not represent the workhorse of a tablet and also on the Mi Pad 2 we detect lower performance than the other sectors. However, compared to many other solutions on the market, Xiaomi's tablet defends itself very well, especially if we consider the quality / price ratio that characterizes it.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2, in fact, has a back chamber from 8 mega-pixels with a CMOS sensor with f / 2.0 opening. However, the device does not have an LED flash.
On the other hand, we find a good room from the front 5 mega-pixels, excellent both for selfies (although the viewing angle is not very wide) but also for video calls with Skype and the like. Below you will find some shots taken with the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Software
On board the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 we find the MIUI 7 based on Android Lollipop 5.1 (a version with Windows 10 will soon be available on the market). The ROM turns out to be rather stable, even if, at the time of our tests, the version with the Italian language has not yet been released.
The performances are still good and, as usual, the operating system customized by Xiaomi does not disappoint and satisfies almost any situation.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Autonomy
The built-in battery on the 2 Mi Pad is a unit from 6120 mAh which, with a medium-intense use made of gaming and video playback (streaming and not), manages to ensure approx 4-5 hours of screen, or a result that, considering the endowment of a very resolute display and a rather energy-intensive hardware, we can consider more than good.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - Final considerations
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2, with its aggressive selling price and its build quality, is currently one of the best choices within the category, which at the moment is full of alternatives, although many are not as good as they seem.
Xiaomi's new tablet has balanced hardware, an excellent display and speakers that guarantee above average sound.
