HONOR 3c - Packaging

The box of Honor 3C it appears in the typical "Turquoise color"  of the brand, a color that immediately strikes for its appearance and, probably, especially the female audience.

The hardcover is also exactly the same as other devices from the manufacturer, with the brand name in translucent. The contents of the package do not reserve surprises with:

  • Honor 3C;
  • battery charger aside with 1 A output;
  • USB cable - micro-USB;
  • headphones earphones with jack by 3,5 mm;
  • battery from 2300 mAH.

Increasingly standardized equipment, especially in the mid-range of the smartphone market.

HONOR 3C - Technical specifications

While most manufacturers, to make their devices more inviting, aim to streamline the hardware side in favor of the aesthetic one, Honor 3C looks like a device "Everything roasted and no smoke". Indeed, though Honor 3C is positioned as a medium-range smartphone, on board we find one CPU MediaTek MT6582M Cortex-A7 quad-core from 1-3 GHz, accompanied by one GPU Mali 400 MP2, both powered by a Mah 2300.

Surprisingly we find well  2 GB of RAM memory, While the internal memory amounts to 8 GB, expandable via micro-SD up to 32 GB.

Il Display it's a unit from 5 inch IPS HD and with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a pixel density per inch equal to a value of 294PPI. On the other hand, the multimedia sector can count on one rear camera from 8 mega-pixels, able to shoot video in FULLHD, and a 5 mega-pixel front.

Full connectivity side with Wi-Fi b / g / n, Bluethoot 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, Wi-Fi Direct, HSPA +, and Dual Sim technology - dual stand-by.

The software is still based on 4.2.2 Android Jelly Bean flanked by the User Interface EMUI 2.0even if online there are already leaked ROMs of which we will present a preview in the coming days.

The dimensions are finally of 139,5 x 71,5 x 9,2 millimeters thick for a weight, including battery, of 140 grams.

HONOR 3c - Design

Honor 3C looks like a smartphone with a removable rear back cover and built with a body entirely in polycarbonate, which however does not make it "Cheap" the device to the touch.Honor-3C

On the front we have the large display from 5 inch IPS HD overlooking the soft touch front buttons - back, home, options - which are not backlit, so in the evening it will not be particularly easy to identify the right soft key. We also emphasize that in vibration or silent mode, the vibration feed disappears.

Present, perhaps surprisingly, the front 5 megapixel camera together with the light sensor, proximity and always welcome notification LED.

The right side houses the power button and the volume rocker.

The left side is completely clean and the choice is definitely appreciated in terms of design cleanliness.

At the bottom we have the plug for the micro-usb port and the main microphone.

Superiorly there is only housing for the 3.5 mm jack.

On the back we find the main camera from 8 mega-pixel, slightly protruding from the body of the device, but protected by a frame painted in silver color. Obviously present the LED flash together with the secondary microphone. In addition to the logo Honor and the system speaker at the bottom we can not find anything else.Honor-3C

I body materials I'm completely in polycarbonate, with a slightly glossy finish, not particularly suitable for clean-up freaks as the rear back-cover often retains fingerprints. The front is dominated by a mineral glass, which is also a decided result poco oleophobic and, therefore, subject to retain fingerprints.

Ergonomics is good! The weight of 140 grams it is well distributed over the entire surface and grip Honor 3C it won't be a problem at all, also thanks to the slightly sloping design on the sides. One-handed use is not exactly comfortable, but it is certainly not impossible.

HONOR 3C - Dispaly

Lights and shadows on the display of Honor 3C. The panel is a unit from 5 inch IPS HD ed aspect ratio of 16: 9 and with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a pixel density per inch of 294 ppi, which is above the average of smartphones in this price range.

The big flaws of Honor 3C concern the brightness sensor - which keeps the brightness always low and is too lazy in changing, managing and adapting to various environmental conditions - and the glass that protects the display, too poco oleophobic and that holds too much fingerprints.

The settings menu allows the regulation of the color temperature, even if automatically it is calibrated in a very fine and precise way.

HONOR 3C -Software

THEEMUI is a proprietary OS notoriously rich in customization and which brings all the Oriental style mentioned in the West Honor 3C It enjoys. Although we are facing a device with Emotion UI 2.0, dating back to a few years ago, Honor 3C still manages to offer a good degree of "pleasure of use" and customization.

As "oriental philosophy wants " the home can count on a multiple number of pages since it is only from here that we can go to manage our applications, given the absence of the application drawer. Management in folders is obviously recommended, unless you want to have a large number of Home pages full of applications.

Also present Smart Gestures that allow you to interact with the applications on the device even when Honor 3C it is in stand-by with the screen off.

The UI, however, leaves a bitter taste in the mouth because it is perceived that now you are facing a dated software and the presence of 4.2.2 Android Jelly Bean it does not help to improve this experience, far from it.

The update to the version Android 4.4.2 KitKat with EMUI 3.0 it was promised in December for the first half of the 2015.

HONOR 3C - Benchmark

As anticipated, the endowment of Honor 3C provides a quad-core processor MediaTek MT6582M, a technology-based solution Cortex-A7 to 32-bit with maximum clock frequency of 1.3 GHz, coupled with a video card Mali 400 MP2 e 2GB RAM.

Here is the result of the various Benchmarks:

HONOR 3C - Multimedia

As already anticipated, the rear camera is equipped with a sensor from 8 mega-pixels which proves above expectations. The photos are of quality, whether they are displayed on the screen Honor 3C, which on a PC screen. Where the optics stands out is in the photos in macro mode, but it can defend well even in the shots taken in poor or difficult lighting conditions.

Even the camera application, although it is simple and functional, gives the idea of using software that is not in step with the times from the point of view of the graphic aspect. Particularly appreciable is the intelligent shooting mode, which automatically adjusts the parameters of the device, also going to activate theHDR when necessary.

Honor 3C - video test at 1080p

YouTube player

The Gallery is revisited in a style in an oriental key, with a very nice graphic look. Excellent possibility to set how to group the multimedia material - choosing between Album, Date, Place and People - present within the device.

Videos are played without any problem, fluency is good and audio and video are synchronized.

Il Music player goes hand in hand with the Gallery, as far as the UI is concerned, always very pleasant and pleasant. Important to underline the present of the equalization DTS Sound, appreciable more with a good pair of headphones (not those present in the package) than from the rear speaker.

HONOR 3C - Internet Browser

The web browser is supported by Google Chrome, increasingly performing and responsive with the latest updates.

Internet browsing is pleasant, thanks to both the diagonal screen and the processor that, however, creates some headache only when we surf on websites full of data and content.

HONOR 3C - Autonomy and office part

The autonomy of Honor 3C it is certainly the strong point of the device. The not particularly defined display and the non-energy-intensive processor allow you to overcome the day of intense use without any problem, without the need to go in constant search for a charger to ensure the autonomy of the smartphone.

Our stress-test includes:

  • 2 gmail account in push;
  • 1 Facebook account that synchronizes every 30 minutes;
  • 1 Twitter account that synchronizes every 30 minutes;
  • Intensive use of WhatsApp;
  • about 40 minutes of calls;
  • about 60 minutes of web surfing;
  • about 15 minutes of leisure with games.

Note: We did not use the Mi Band as it is not supported by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Although it is not a smartphone voted for the business sector, with Honor 3C we can count on a good management of Office files, thanks to WPS Office, and a well-made Calendar app UI.

HONOR 3C - Conclusions

Although it is not the smartphone suitable for cleaning maniacs, the purchase of Honor 3C it is definitely recommended for all users looking for a balanced device in this price range. THE 139 euros - on Amazon.it - required for the purchase of this Honor 3C they are more than justified by the camera, the autonomy and the 2GB RAM on board, which guarantee a good management of the applications in the background.

A pinch of more fluidity would certainly be appreciated and, for this reason, we are confident that with the update ad Android 4.4.2 KitKat with 3MUI 3.0 the manufacturer can remedy all these small productivity defects.
