The complete specifications of the Huawei Honor 6 Plus

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus is equipped with the chipset Kirin HiSilicon 925, SoC octa-core home Huawei based on the ARM architecture big.LITTLE with 4 core Cortex-A15 da 1.8GHz e 4 core Cortex-A7 da 1.3GHz.

The GPU is one Mali T-624MP4; the device we tested is also equipped with 3GB di RAM e 16GB di internal memory expandable via micro SD up to 128GB (also available in 32GB storage version). The operating system is 4.4.2 Android KitKat with Huawei interface Emotion UI 3.0, the same that we have already seen on the Ascend Mate 7 dual SIM.

The display is, as already mentioned, a unit from 5.5 inches FullHD with resolution from 1920 1080 pixels x (401 PPI). The photographic sector is certainly the most innovative aspect on which Huawei has focused everything. We speak, in fact, of a double rear camera equipped with two sensors from 8 mega-pixels (one with opening F / 2.0 and the other with openness F / 2.4), ISP image processor dedicated can guarantee a focusing and shooting in a time of 0.1 seconds. The front camera and from 8 mega-pixels.

The data sheet continues with connectivity Bluetooth 4.0 LE with A2DPGPS with Glonass802.11 WiFi b / g / n, dual SIM dual stand-by e connectivity LTE 4G.

The battery is from 3600mAh.

For those who use many applications there is the useful option to install the app directly on the external micro SD, so as not to overly occupy the internal storage of the device.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus dual SIM: Design

The design of the Huawei Honor 6 Plus is practically the same as that of the Honor 6. What differs between the two devices is the size - due to the different cut of the display -, the metal frame that runs along the perimeter of the Honor 6 Plus (3 sides) and the position of the rear cameras. For the rest, the layout of the physical keys is also the same, but on the Plus they are made with a knurled metallic finish.

On the left side we find, in fact, as on the Honor 6, the on / off and standby button and the volume rocker.

On the same side, moreover, we also find the two removable trays for housing the SIMs, one of which can be used alternatively with a nano SIM or with a micro SD memory expansion (up to 128GB). The second slot, on the other hand, will allow the housing of a micro SIM. It will therefore be up to you to decide whether to use both SIMs or whether to use one of the two slots for memory expansion and therefore use only one SIM.

The right side is "clean".

On the top we find the audio jack da 3.5 mm for headphones and earphones, the second microphone for environmental noise suppression and the infrared sensor, useful for using the device as a remote control.

On the lower side we find the connector Micro USB (OTG ed MTP), placed at the center as on the Honor 6, and the main microphone.

Later we find the double camera da 8 mega-pixels with the double LED flash. Further down, on the left, the crack where the system speaker hides. The Honor logo is placed in the upper half of the shell, made with a chrome effect.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus

The build quality is very good, the device is very solid and well assembled and measured 150.46 x 75.68 x 7.5 mm thick, for a total weight, battery from 3600mAh including, of 165 grams.

In the review published a few months ago I called the Honor 6 a very elegant device, which however - perhaps to be a bit fussy - was slightly lacking in the quality of the materials.

Also from the construction and materials point of view this Honor 6 Plus offers a substantial upgrade and this is already perceptible from the very first contact with the device. The feeling is that of a device premium and it is the metal frame that, in particular, offers an impression of solidity and quality to a device absolutely free from construction imperfections.

The dimensional difference with the Honor 6 has also automatically generated a difference in weight, but in any case, with its own 165 grams (35 more than the younger brother), the Honor 6 Plus remains a lightweight device, although less comfortable in the handle and more difficult to use with one hand.

As regards the safety of the grip, the same applies to the Honor 6, since, despite the rear body is smooth, the absence of contact with the same generated by the slightly squared shapes of the device, avoids the possible slide effect.

The positioning of the control buttons - power button and volume rocker - is also quite easy, easily reachable with the thumb in the single-handed grip

Huawei Honor 6 Plus: display from 5.5 inches FullHD

The Honor 6 Plus display is a panel IPS LTPS (can also be used with gloves and wet fingers) from 5.5 inches with resolution FullHD 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus

This translates into one pixel density per inch di 401ppi. The adoption of the same FullHD resolution, also adopted by the Honor 6 equipped with an 5 inch display, inevitably entails a lower pixel density.

In this regard, and especially with high levels of brightness, the pixel grid is slightly perceptible, but this is noticeable only after careful analysis of the display very closely.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus

The display is very bright, although confirming a FULLHD resolution on a wider diagonal causes a slight loss of sharpness compared to the Honor 6 panel.

As for the reproduction of colors, the panel mounted on this Honor 6 Plus reproduces a slightly off-scale red, while the rendering of the other colors is optimal, with a perfect reproduction of black and white, the latter's weak point, for IPS panels.

The viewing angle is very good and the color change in the display angle is not excessive.

Furthermore, in the screen settings, it is possible to manage the color temperature (from warmer to colder), so as to allow optimal reproduction according to your personal tastes.

The brightness sensor seems to be responsive and precise in automatic adjustment and the readability of the panel is quite good even if it is exposed to direct sunlight.

More generally, that of the Honor 6 Plus is an excellent panel and those small notes relating to the slight display of the pixel grid concern exclusively the use aimed at the test, probably not visible in daily use.

Let's close the discussion on the Honor 6 Plus display by saying only that the touchscreen is very fluid too, free of Ghost Touch and jamming.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus: performance and benchmark

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus has achieved excellent results in the various benchmark tests carried out during these days of testing.

AnTuTu benchmark: 43.628 points.

Here are all the other scores obtained by the Honor 6 Plus in the various benchmark tests:

Huawei Honor 6 Plus: Gaming Test with Real Racing 3

As anticipated at the opening, this Honor 6 Plus is equipped with SoC Kirin HiSilicon 925 octa-core home Huawei, based on the ARM architecture big.LITTLE with 4 core Cortex-A15 da 1.8GHz e 4 core Cortex-A7 da 1.3GHz. In pairs we find the GPU Mali T-624MP4 e 3GB di RAM.

A top-of-the-range hardware equipment that has allowed us to obtain excellent results even in game sessions with very “challenging” titles, such as Real Racing 3, a game optimized for the Adreno 330 GPU.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus: Telephone part and 4G / 3G navigation

The quality of the reception of the Honor 6 Plus is excellent (tested with H3G and TIM operators), as well as the audio in the headset and in the headphones.

Good 3G and 4G connectivity (tested with TIM).

Honor-plus-6-13

The sound in the speaker is good, even if not very powerful.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus: GPS, bluetooth and WiFi

The connectivity area of the Honor 6 Plus did not show any uncertainty. Perfect GPS, bluetooth and WiFi.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus: Quality of cameras

Honor-plus-6-12

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus is equipped with a double one rear camera equipped with two sensors from 8 mega-pixels (one with opening F / 2.0 and the other with openness F / 2.4), ISP image processor dedicated can guarantee a focusing and shooting in a time of 0.1 seconds. The front camera and from 8 mega-pixels.

The front camera will allow you to make great selfies, capturing a lot of light and with options - such as face beauty - thanks to which the level of the shot will always be good.

As for the double rear camera, the same always manages to get good results, but going a bit 'in difficulty when the level of lighting of the scene goes down.

In general, however, the shooting speed is excellent, as well as the average quality of the photos taken. Let's see them in detail.

The shots taken in good lighting conditions are quite good:

The photos taken in low light conditions are also very good, even if in “critical” conditions (almost total absence of light) the shots show a fairly high level of noise. Here are some examples:

Excellent macro and close-ups.

Good HDR, even if - sometimes - with a tendency to saturate colors too much, overexposing the whole scene.

The double LED flash is also good, which spreads the light evenly on the portrait element. On the other hand, the classic test performed on a reflective surface did not convince me: the general lighting was good, but not the focus.

As for the video part, the Huawei Honor 6 plays all the most popular formats, including divx and mkv, with good audio and an excellent bitrate. In the video review it is possible to observe a playback test of a file in mkv format. The Huawei stock player did not play a file in .mp4 format in 4K (codec H.264, AC3).

Also good video recording up to 1080p, but even then colors tend to be slightly saturated. However, the recording is very smooth and clear and the audio is excellent. A little slow auto-focus in recording.

There is no support for registration in 4K.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus: Battery

Under the rear body there is a 3600mAh non-removable battery with which I was able to easily cover a day of very intense use, with about 12 general hours of use of the device (alternating between 4G or WiFi connectivity) and 4 and a half hours of display on.

Huawei Honor-6-plus-battery

In addition, the battery performance seems to improve with each complete recharge cycle.

Battery tests were performed with active mode intelligent, which is the intermediate energy saving option that automatically regulates the use of the CPU and the network and which differs from the mode Normal and from that Incredibly , with which the device will be used exclusively for call and message functions.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus: final Thoughts

Although my personal preference falls on a cut a little smaller than the 5.5 inches of the device, I must say that the Honor 6 Plus was still quite manageable, especially thanks to the very small display bezels.

The performances are excellent; the Kirin 925 and Mali T-624, in fact, ensure high performance for all uses.

A bit 'browsing and from the photographic sector I would have expected a little more, even if the Honor 6 Plus remains a device with which you can take some great photos.

Personally, I find the work that Huawei is carrying out incredible, both from a design point of view, and from a construction point of view and, perhaps, in particular what concerns the software. The Emotion UI, in fact, is a ROM that gradually acquires more and more maturity and, now in version 3.0, shows an excellent stability and a completeness of functions almost without equal.

Congratulations to Huawei that with this series Honor has made the right move to offer stable, balanced and also aesthetically beautiful devices, all at a very competitive price.

In closing, I thank you again Teknistore.com to send this Honor 6 Plus, which can be purchased on the store with shipping from Italy - both in the 16 version and in the 32GB version - with the discount code GIZH6PLUS.
