Micromax has just presented a new budget-phone line called "Canvas Win". As you probably know, Micromax's "Canvas" line includes devices with an Android operating system, which are also very popular in the company's home market. But now that Microsoft has loosened its license bites, Micromax has decided to introduce devices with Windows OS in a market dominated by Android.
Both terminals feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor from 1.2 Ghz and 1GB of RAM. The official announcement of the partnership between Micromax and Microsoft, however, is coming at the beginning of the year, but only now we see its first results.
"With our vision of the democratization of technology and belief in ensuring consumers the choice of different platforms, we are pleased to present a new range of Windows Os-based phones. I am honored that Micromax is the only Indian company to be present on both platforms. The desire for innovation of Micromax and the awareness of the strength of the partnerships has led today to the launch of these new devices, equipped with the new Microsoft system and Qualcomm's high-performance processors. We will continue to create products and provide services that simplify and improve the consumer experience"
Sanjay Kapoor, president of Micromax
"I personally congratulate Micromax on the launch of these new Windows phones. The Micromax Canvas Win line will be available both in India and in other emerging markets. Our deep commitment with local producers is one of the growth engines for Windows Phone, we are very proud of our partnership with Micromax. Thanks to the Canvas Win line, devices with Windows Os are now available for those consumers who are attentive to both innovation and price"
Bhaskar Pramanik, president of Microsoft India
Although neither device is a top of the range, the combination of price and specifications should / could help Windows Os to achieve greater coverage, especially in a developing market like India. Only time will tell us if the strategy is right or not!
